Union accuses Ministry of Health of lying: 'They are openly spreading misinformation'
Thousands of family physicians who opposed the Ministry of Health's newly issued regulation went on strike for 3 months. The Ministry of Health claimed that family physicians did not stop working despite the strike decision. The Unity and Solidarity Union reacted to the Ministry, noting that 17,000 family physicians participated in the action.
Family physicians continue to express their opposition to the Family Medicine Contract and Payment Regulation. It was reported that 17,000 family physicians and healthcare workers participated in the work stoppage actions held in November, December, and January. The Unity and Solidarity Union announced that they have continued to defend the rights of healthcare workers since the day the process began.
Unity and Solidarity Union Branch No. 3 President Dr. Hacı Yusuf Eryazğan stated, ''The Ministry's official statements do not reflect the truth. When the 2023 healthcare service usage statistics are examined, the outpatient clinic figures shared do not even reach 40 percent of the reality.''

DEBATE BETWEEN THE MINISTRY AND THE UNION
Ministry of Health officials claimed that family physicians continued to work despite the work stoppage decision taken between January 6-10. Dr. Eryazğan reacted harshly to these statements. Stating that 'The Ministry is committing a crime by openly spreading misinformation,' Eryazğan noted that the situation is also clearly visible through salary deductions.
It was noted that out of 27,000 family physicians, 15,000 received their full salaries in the last three months, while 12,000 faced deductions due to the actions. When the 5,000 physicians who were not subject to deductions but supported the action in different ways are added, it was clearly demonstrated that a total of 17,000 physicians participated in the work stoppage actions.
Dr. Eryazğan stated, 'Stop distorting the facts, we will continue our struggle. We will win despite you,' expressing that they will defend the rights of family physicians and healthcare workers to the end. Union officials stated that they will continue their actions with the demand that the regulation be changed.
