University students ran 1923 meters for Republic Day

The "Republic Day Sports Games" and the "Republic Run," organized within the scope of Republic Day in cooperation with the Kastamonu University Faculty of Sports Sciences Department of Sports Management and the Department of Health, Culture and Sports (SKS), took place with great participation and enthusiasm. The events were held at the Kuzeykent campus and the Ayyıldız Sports and Life Center.

Competitions in various branches were also held during the event, which saw the participation of approximately 300 students. Tournaments in foot tennis, badminton, darts, basketball, and table tennis both demonstrated the unifying power of sports and provided entertainment while fostering competition.

Sema Karabaş, a second-year student studying in the Coaching Department at the Kastamonu University Faculty of Sports Sciences, said, "I competed for the third time today. I came in first in all three. I never lose a race I enter. If there were another race, I would run again. After all, Turkish youth do not get tired. Happy October 29 Republic Day. Running here for this purpose is very proud and happy. Coming in first was also a source of pride. I am happy and joyful."

Turgut Köse, a student in the Physical Education Teaching Department at the Kastamonu University Faculty of Sports Sciences, stated, "As Turkish youth, we will always continue to run on holidays. Even if I were injured, I would still continue to run. Because running is freedom. Happy October 29 Republic Day. As Turkish youth, we will continue to run toward the future without stopping."

Batuhan Akbulut, a Research Assistant in the Department of Sports Management at the Kastamonu University Faculty of Sports Sciences, said, "In order to enliven the October 29 events and to exalt our youth, to whom we have entrusted the Republic, we organized a running event with them. The Republic Run was the final stage of our three-day organization. They ran 1923 meters, with a participation of approximately 60-70 people. We want to hold such events in line with the wishes and desires of our students. We want participation to increase even more. Their wishes are our wishes. Whatever our students want, we strive to do it for them. On this occasion, happy October 29 Republic Day."
