Unknown details of that night included in the investigation: Identity of the 11th person revealed

The investigation into the fatal traffic accident in Eyüpsultan, which shook the agenda in Turkey, is being conducted from multiple angles.

On the night of the incident, 16-year-old T. Cihantimur, the son of famous doctor Bülent Cihantimur and writer Eylem Tok, took his mother's luxury sports car and met with his friends in the Göktürk neighborhood where they reside. In the incident that occurred on the night of March 1, T. Cihantimur and his friend D.O.Ö. entered the wooded area in two separate vehicles. According to official records, there were a total of 10 friends in these two vehicles.

WHO WAS IN WHICH VEHICLE

Three of the friends, who split into two groups because they were a large crowd, got into T. Cihantimur's vehicle. According to the police investigation, A.K., B.A., and A.A. had boarded T. Cihantimur's vehicle. The second vehicle was driven by D.O.Ö. D.O.Ö., who is underage and does not have a driver's license, stated in his testimony that he took his father's car without permission. The names K.A., Z.H.D., M.E.Y., P.T.E., and Y.E.A. were in the vehicle driven by D.O.Ö. According to the names entered into the investigation file, a total of 10 friends were together on the night of the incident, with 4 people in the vehicle driven by T. Cihantimur and 6 people in the vehicle driven by D.O.Ö.

ONE FRIEND DID NOT GO WITH THEM

In addition to T. Cihantimur, who caused the accident that led to the death of Oğuz Murat Aci, 9 of his friends also gave statements. The details of what happened on the night of the incident also emerged in these statements. It was revealed in the statements that a friend named K.D. was with T. Cihantimur before he went to meet his other friends on the night of the incident. Before the incident occurred, T. Cihantimur picked up his friend A.K. with his friend K.D. in the vehicle he was driving. After picking up A.K., T. Cihantimur dropped off his friend K.D. at his home and then met with the other group of friends to drive around. T. Cihantimur's friend K.D. was also the child of a wealthy family in the tourism sector.

THAT STATEMENT OF THE MOST IMPORTANT WITNESS TO THE INCIDENT

On the night the incident occurred, one of the most important witnesses was A.K., the friend T. Cihantimur met with first. All the details of A.K.'s statement to the police have emerged. In his statement, A.K. explained the details of where and how he met with T. Cihantimur on the night of the incident, how they later met with the other friends, and what happened as follows:

“Yesterday, that is, on 01/03/2024, around 21:00, while I was at my residence, my school friend T. Cihantimur called me and said let's hang out and invited me out, then he came and picked me up from my house. When T. came to pick me up, he was driving the vehicle, and there was also a friend of ours named K.D. in the vehicle. After we started moving with the vehicle, we dropped K. off at his house and headed towards T. Cihantimur's house. We waited for our friend named D.Ö. in front of T.'s house. I estimate that 10 minutes later, the dark-colored vehicle driven by D. arrived. As far as I remember, D., H., and P. were in the vehicle. We became 5 people in total and left the site.”

“WE BECAME 10 PEOPLE”

“I got into T.'s vehicle. D., H., and P. followed us in the other vehicle. We picked up our friends named Y.E.A. and K.A. from a different site. K. and Y.E. got into the other vehicle. We became 7 people in total and drove around in Göktürk with the cars and went to Kemer Country square. While we were sitting in the square, we saw my friend M.E.Y., who is in the same class. Beside M., I saw individuals I knew as B. and A., whose surnames I did not know and whom I was seeing for the first time, and we started chatting, thus we became 10 people in total.”

“WE ENTERED THE BAHÇEKÖY FOREST ROAD”

“Then we split up from here with the vehicles. D. was driving the other vehicle. K., Y.E., M.E., P., and H. got in with D. Beside T. Cihantimur were myself and the individuals named A. and B. We left the Kemer Country site and went to the gas station in the center. The other vehicle bought fuel from here. We left the gas station and entered the Bahçeköy forest road. When we entered the forest road, D. was driving in front of us with his own vehicle. After a while, D. made a hand gesture and wanted us to pass in front of him.”

“WE OVERTOOK THE VEHICLE DRIVEN BY D.”

“Based on this, we overtook D., passed in front of him, and proceeded. We encountered a speed bump. When T. saw the speed bump, he slowed down a bit and accelerated after passing it. Then T. saw something on the right side of the road in our direction of travel and suddenly swerved the steering wheel to the left to avoid hitting the objects. The vehicle suddenly started to slide. The right side of the vehicle, that is, the side where I was, started to slide towards the ATV-style vehicles. As a result of the sliding, the vehicle driven by T., in which I was also present, suddenly hit the ATV-style vehicles. After the collision, our vehicle went up onto the slope on the left.”

“THERE WAS SOMEONE UNDER THE VEHICLE”

“Subsequently, T., myself, A., and B., who were in the vehicle, got out. After getting out, I saw two individuals lying injured on the ground in the middle of the road. We went to them and tried to communicate. Later, as far as I heard from the crowd, I learned that there was another injured person on the other cliff side of the road. At that moment, T. Cihantimur went to the front of his own car and told us that there was a person under the vehicle. Subsequently, other vehicles passing on the road also stopped and were helping. I heard someone among the crowd saying they had called 112. Later, we learned that there was another injured person on the slope side of the road, lower down. Citizens in the vicinity went to the injured person and tried to help.”

“HIS MOTHER PICKED US UP”

“At this moment, T. Cihantimur called his private driver with his own phone and said he had an accident. A while later, he called T.'s mother and again said he had an accident. The fire brigade team arrived at the scene and started to intervene. During the intervention, T.'s mother arrived at the scene with a female individual in an old-model vehicle whose license plate I could not get. They put me, T., and D. into the vehicle they had arrived in. Then she also got into the vehicle and we left the scene. They dropped me and D. off at the Kemer Country site entrance and continued.”

“While we were in front of the site, we saw that the mobile phone belonging to one of the injured was left with our friend named Z.H. Subsequently, I went to my friend named K., who lives at the site.”
