Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the details of the Mercek-19 operations via his X account.
Yerlikaya stated the following:
"'MERCEK-19' operations were carried out in 77 provinces over the last 5 days targeting arms smugglers and individuals carrying unlicensed firearms!
As a result of the operations: A total of 1,877 weapons were seized, including 1,315 unlicensed pistols, 154 pistols converted from blank-firing guns, 53 long-barreled rifles, and 355 unlicensed hunting rifles. Legal action was taken against 2,089 suspects."
