Urgent call for Gaza
The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza has deepened with the onset of the rainy season. Hamas has called on the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to take a clear stance.
Hamas has issued a call to the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) regarding the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem stated that the disaster, which has intensified with the start of the rainy season, has made living conditions in Gaza even more difficult, and he demanded that international organizations take a clear stance.
HEAVY RAINS LEAVE TENTS SUBMERGED
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem expressed that the growing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip is worsening by the day. Qassem stated that displaced Palestinians in Gaza are struggling to survive in thousands of tents that have been submerged due to the increasing rainfall. He drew attention to the scale of the tragedy, saying, "Despite the ceasefire, the people of the Gaza Strip are being subjected to a war of genocide due to the restriction of aid, the obstruction of reconstruction, and the continuation of the blockade."
ACCESS TO BASIC PERSONAL NEEDS HAS BECOME DIFFICULT
Following the blockade and restrictions, meeting basic needs in Gaza has become a major challenge. Access to vital services such as healthcare and education has been severely limited. The Gaza government's Media Office reported in a statement at the end of September that 93 percent of the 135,000 tents in the region were no longer suitable for shelter, and 125,000 of them had become completely unusable.
WINTER STORM DEEPENS THE DISASTER
The first winter storm in Gaza began to take effect yesterday, leading to hundreds of tents and temporary shelters being flooded. Hamas pointed out that with the start of the winter season, the disaster in Gaza has grown even further. Palestinian families, unable to return to their homes destroyed by Israel, have become trapped in an area known as the "Yellow Line." This boundary marks the line between areas still controlled by the Israeli army and areas from which it withdrew following the ceasefire that went into effect on October 10.
ISRAEL'S BLOCKADE WORSENS LIVING CONDITIONS
It has been reported that Israeli forces frequently attack Palestinians approaching the "Yellow Line" zone. This situation further complicates the already dire living conditions of the people in Gaza. The difficulties created by blockades and restrictions have made it impossible to meet basic needs in the region.
CALL FOR A CLEAR STANCE FROM INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
In his call to the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hamas emphasized that they must adopt a more active stance regarding the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. The increasing difficulties with the onset of the winter season have made it even more critical for these institutions to take action. Hamas stated, "The Arab League and the OIC must take concrete steps to stop the catastrophe in Gaza."
