US responds to Erdoğan regarding PKK/YPG following terror attack on TUSAŞ

In the attack on TUSAŞ's campus in Ankara's Kahramankazan district, 5 people were martyred and 22 citizens were injured. The terrorist organization PKK claimed responsibility for the treacherous attack.

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements to journalists upon his return from Tatarstan, where he had gone for the BRICS Summit.

Stating that the attack on TUSAŞ was an 'infiltration movement from Syria,' Erdoğan had used the following expressions: "The PYD/YPG, which is the Syrian branch of the terrorist organization PKK, is destined to be abandoned and left alone. America carries this terrorist organization in its lap for a while, but when that time is up, it has to leave them on their own. It is now a known fact that America uses terrorist organizations in the region for its own interests and for the security of Israel. Does America provide all kinds of tools, equipment, ammunition, and all support to Israel in the region? Yes, it does. Does it provide money? Yes, it does."

Following these remarks by Erdoğan, a statement came from the US.

According to the report by Dilge Timoçin from VOA Turkish, the US Department of State reiterated that they "condemn the terrorist attack in the strongest possible terms" and stated that the threat posed by the PKK, which has been on the terrorist organization list since 1997, continues.

In a written statement made by the US Department of State spokesperson, it was stated: "The United States stands with our NATO ally Turkey and the Turkish people in their fight against the PKK, which it designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in 1997. We are aware that the threat posed by the PKK continues."

The Department did not directly respond to Erdoğan's remarks targeting the US or to the allegations circulating on the Turkish agenda that Washington had a hand in the TUSAŞ attack.

On October 23, the day the attack took place, the daily press briefing at the White House began with a message of condolence to Ankara. White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby had stated, "While we do not yet know the exact motive or who is behind the attack, we strongly condemn this act of violence."
