US Senator Sanders criticizes $14 billion aid to Israel: 'To flatten Gaza...'
Independent US Senator Bernie Sanders criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Congress that supports him over the attacks in Gaza, stating, "Congress is preparing to provide another $14 billion in military aid to the right-wing Netanyahu government. This will allow Netanyahu to buy more bombs to flatten Gaza and kill thousands more innocent people."
Independent US Senator Bernie Sanders criticized both the Netanyahu administration and Congress during a session regarding his resolution to cut off US military support to Israel.
In his speech in the Senate, Sanders recalled Netanyahu's words about "crushing" the people in Gaza "into small pieces," and asked, "The question that we as Americans and the US Congress must ask is: How many more children and innocent people will be crushed in this process by Netanyahu?"
Stating that the massacre in Gaza must end immediately, Sanders said, "President Biden is right; this must end, and as the US, it is in our hands, but now Congress is preparing to provide another $14 billion in military aid to the far-right Netanyahu government. This will allow Netanyahu to buy more bombs to flatten Gaza and kill thousands more innocent people."
Emphasizing that the aid to be transferred to Netanyahu would only mean more women and children dying, Sanders asked, "Do we really want to reward Netanyahu, who is completely ignoring everything the US President himself has asked him to do?"
The US senator remarked, "Do we really want to give more support to the leader of the most far-right government in Israel's history, a man who has dedicated his political career to destroying the two-state solution proposal?"
'PUTIN' CRITICISM OVER GAZA
In a speech he gave at the Center for International Policy think tank the day before, Sanders made similar points and said, "The Senate is considering giving another $14 billion to Netanyahu's far-right government to continue its indiscriminate bombing in Gaza. How can we, in this situation, rightfully criticize Putin's war crimes in Ukraine while ignoring the killing of 27 thousand Palestinians?"
