Uşak Mayor arrested: CHP membership suspended
The CHP Central Executive Board (MYK) has made its decision regarding Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım, who was detained as part of a bribery investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Özkan Yalım's CHP membership has been suspended.
The statement came from CHP Spokesperson Zeynel Emre. Zeynel Emre made the following remarks regarding Özkan Yalım, whose expulsion from the CHP was demanded due to intense public backlash:
"As the Central Executive Board, it has been decided unanimously to suspend Özkan Yalım's membership, to appoint two legal colleagues to investigate all these matters, and subsequently, regardless of the outcome, to initiate a disciplinary process after hearing what Özkan Yalım has to say. The necessary actions will be taken in the coming days."
ÖZKAN YALIM ARRESTED
Within the scope of the investigation, arrest warrants had been requested for 13 suspects, including the Mayor of Uşak.
The court issued judicial control measures for 4 suspects, while ordering the arrest of 9 suspects, including Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım.
