Use of APP and fake license plates banned, penalties increased

The Ministry of Interior announced that those who continue to use European Press Plates (APP) will be subject to a fine of 2,647 liras, while those using fake license plates will face a fine of 32,170 liras and a prison sentence of 2 to 5 years on charges of forgery of official documents.

In the statement made by the Ministry, it was reminded that it is mandatory for vehicles registered for the first time on or after January 1, 2024, and for vehicles with re-issued license plates, to have a QR code and an identification number.

The statement emphasized that in the event of using fake or APP plates, these plates must be removed immediately and replaced with plates that comply with the standards set by the state. Furthermore, it included the following remarks: "Using fake and APP plates is a crime and carries criminal sanctions. Those who continue to use APP will be fined 2,647 liras, while those using fake license plates will be fined 32,170 liras and face a prison sentence of 2 to 5 years for the crime of forgery of official documents. Solving traffic problems is achieved through compliance with traffic rules; please let us follow traffic rules."
