Uzungöl's zoning plan issue is being resolved: Work is restarting

Trabzon Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç announced that while the zoning plan issue for Uzungöl in the Çaykara district of Trabzon continues, internal arrangement works will begin as of October. The goal is to increase the region's tourism potential with new projects.

The zoning plan issue for Uzungöl in Trabzon's Çaykara district, one of the most important tourism centers in Turkey and the Eastern Black Sea Region, has been on the agenda for many years. Trabzon Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç announced that internal arrangement works in Uzungöl are ongoing and will resume at the beginning of October, as of the end of this month.

Genç emphasized that Uzungöl will be made much more beautiful in terms of zoning. The works, which were paused for a while due to the intensity of the season, are aimed to be completed within this year. He also stated that they plan to create a significant parking area to solve the traffic problem experienced in transportation to Uzungöl. It was stated that the area will be protected by a ring system, preventing vehicles from entering directly into Uzungöl. Thanking the Minister of Environment and Urbanization, Murat Kurum, Genç added that the necessary steps will be taken to bring these projects to life. It was reported that joint efforts are continuing to increase Uzungöl's potential in the field of tourism.

UZUNGÖL

Uzungöl is a natural lake located in the Çaykara district of Trabzon, in Turkey's Black Sea Region. While the lake was known only to local residents until 2000, it has become a popular destination among both domestic and foreign tourists in recent years.

  1. Natural Formation: Uzungöl was formed as a result of a landslide that occurred in the 18th century. The landslide blocked the stream bed and caused the lake to form. This natural beauty offers a fascinating landscape over time, along with the surrounding mountains and forests.

  2. Settlement History: The history of settlements in the Uzungöl region dates back a long time. The history of Trabzon extends to the Byzantine period; therefore, the area around Uzungöl is also home to historical settlements.

  3. Tourism Development: With the realization of its tourism potential in the 1980s, hotels, restaurants, and other tourist infrastructure began to develop rapidly around Uzungöl. Uzungöl is known for both its natural beauty and cultural richness.

  4. Cultural Elements: The traditional architecture, wooden houses, and local handicrafts of the people living around Uzungöl reflect the cultural richness of the region. In addition, the region offers visitors activities such as trekking, nature walks, and photography.

Today, Uzungöl continues to be an important tourism center with both its natural beauty and cultural heritage.
