Vedat Işıkhan announces municipalities' SGK debt

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan answered questions regarding the agenda during a live broadcast on CNN Türk.

HOW MANY PEOPLE RETIRED THROUGH EYT?

Making statements regarding the EYT (Retirement Age Trapped) regulation, Minister Işıkhan said that 3 million 123 thousand citizens have retired and that this regulation cost the state 724 billion liras in its first year. Işıkhan stated, "The total cost is approximately 3.4 trillion liras."

HOW MUCH IS THE MUNICIPALITIES' SGK DEBT?

Touching upon the premium debts of municipalities to the Social Security Institution (SGK), Işıkhan announced that this debt has reached 196 billion TL.

Minister Işıkhan provided information about the process with the following words: "149 municipalities have applied to the SGK to pay a total of 30 billion in premium debt. More or less, our total collection amount by the SGK so far is 28.2 billion."

Other prominent headlines are as follows:

"We have only one source of income for the sustainability of our social security system. This is the insurance premiums we collect from our employers and public institutions. We have approached all municipalities equally here, regardless of political party affiliation. We have seen that some municipalities are struggling more due to their premium debts and have taken actions to avoid paying their debts. In fact, the most logical method is that mayors also have a financial responsibility. As a requirement of financial responsibility, premiums must be paid to the SGK. In the program 2-3 months ago in March, it was 96 billion, but now 100 billion has been added to this figure along with interest."

He emphasized that the total premium debt of 30 billion liras of the 149 municipalities that applied to the SGK has been restructured, and the amount collected to date has reached 28.2 billion liras.

"ONE MORE SMA DRUG ON THE REIMBURSEMENT LIST"

On the other hand, sharing information about drugs covered by reimbursement, Işıkhan announced that the number of drugs covered by the SGK has risen to a total of 8,873, with 8,475 domestically and 398 abroad.

Announcing a new development for SMA patients, Işıkhan said, "As you said, let us share that good news regarding SMA with you as well. We have included one more SMA drug that is easy to use in the reimbursement scope."
