A car caught fire following an explosion in Ankara, which occurred after construction machinery punctured a natural gas line while excavating at a construction site. There were no casualties or injuries in the incident.

The incident occurred at a construction site on Elfidan Street, Tevfik İleri Avenue in the Pursaklar district. According to allegations, the bucket of an excavator performing excavation work punctured a natural gas pipeline. After a gas leak occurred in the area for a while, an explosion took place and a fire broke out.

A parked car with license plate 06 S 3220, which was hit by the growing flames, burned and became unusable. The fire was extinguished by the intervention of fire crews dispatched to the area upon notification, and the gas leak was brought under control.

Police teams have launched an investigation into the incident, in which no loss of life or injuries occurred.

Barış Cankurt, who witnessed the incident, said, “The construction machinery was working, and a natural gas leak occurred. Then the teams arrived and cordoned off the area. Our friend's car was also there. They did not allow him to take it. Suddenly, flames started to emerge and spread to the vehicle. The car started to burn completely. Afterward, they brought the situation under control. The fire crews extinguished the fire. There was no loss of life or injury.”
