Verdict day in the Baby Sıla case
The third and final hearing of the case regarding the death of 2-year-old Sıla Yeniçeri due to sexual abuse and violence in the Malkara district of Tekirdağ will be held today.
The third hearing of the case regarding the death of Sıla Yeniçeri due to sexual abuse and violence will begin at 9:30 AM at the Tekirdağ 2nd High Criminal Court. Police teams have taken extensive security measures around the courthouse. Lawyers and representatives of non-governmental organizations began arriving at the Tekirdağ Courthouse early in the morning.
Among the defendants in the case, a 67-year prison sentence is requested for Sıla's mother, Bakiye Yeniçeri (30), for the crime of "intentional killing by negligent conduct"; 28 years and 6 months for neighbor Kani A. (33); and 1 year and 6 months for Sanlı Ö. (58) for the crime of "failure to report a crime."
For the children dragged into crime, a total of 66 years is requested for G.K. (15), and 48 years plus an aggravated life sentence for the crime of "intentional killing" is requested for K.A. (14).
The court is expected to announce its verdict at the hearing, which will be held in a closed session.
