Verdict hearing underway: All defendants are accomplices in the Narin Güran case
A verdict is expected today in the second hearing of the trial regarding the brutal murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in Diyarbakır. During the court session, Salim Güran's 15-year-old employee, Ramazon Atasoy, testified as a witness. When asked, "Were you mistreated?" Atasoy replied, "They beat me once." The prosecutor's opinion was read in court, with the prosecutor stating, "All defendants are accomplices."
The trial for the murder of Narin Güran, who was reported missing on August 21 in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's Bağlar district and whose lifeless body was found on September 8, continues today (December 26).
For the second hearing of the case held at the 8th High Criminal Court, the detained defendants—mother Yüksel Güran, brother Enes Güran, uncle Salim Güran, and neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar—were brought to the Diyarbakır Courthouse from the Diyarbakır Prison Campus under heavy security measures in prison transport vehicles.
During the hearing, three individuals, one of whom is in custody, are being heard as witnesses in accordance with the requests made by the defense attorneys between sessions.
According to reports from journalist Emrullah Erdinç, Enes Güran and Nevzat Bahtiyar arrived in the courtroom. Nevzat entered the hall wearing the same clothes he wore during the first hearing and sat in the same seat. Salim Güran and Yüksel Güran also took their places in the defendants' chairs.
Arif Güran, who had walked toward lawyer Nahit Eren during the first hearing of the Narin Güran case, sat next to lawyer Nahit Eren on the plaintiff's side.
PROSECUTOR'S OPINION READ
The prosecutor's opinion was read in the case, and the prosecutor stated "All defendants are accomplices" he said.
PRESIDING JUDGE: I WILL REMOVE ANYONE WHO IS DISRESPECTFUL
The presiding judge warned everyone before the hearing began: "Everyone will be respectful. If the Güran family acts disrespectfully as they did in the first hearing, they will be removed entirely." he said.
The hearing began with the questioning of witnesses. The first witness was 15-year-old detainee Ramazan Atasoy, an employee of Salim Güran. Ramazan Atasoy participated in the hearing via the SEGBİS video conferencing system. Wearing a white sweater, Ramazan Atasoy gave his testimony in the presence of a pedagogue.
The presiding judge asked the pedagogue to remind witness Ramazan Atasoy that he should provide testimony, but that he could refuse to answer if he did not wish to do so. The pedagogue provided the necessary warnings. The presiding judge stated that Ramazan would be heard without taking an oath.
WITNESS TESTIMONY OF RAMAZAN ATASOY
Ramazan Atasoy: I went to Tavşantepe once. I went with my father and Salim Güran. We met Salim Güran in the field. It was around 8-9 in the morning on the day of the first incident. Salim stayed with us for about an hour, then left. My father also went to pick up the workers. He left around 1:30 PM, and I stayed there. Around 3 or 4 PM, Salim Güran came to me. He asked, "Where is your father?" then called my father and said, "Dismiss the workers and come here." We sat for a while and made tea. I don't know what time it was, but he called my father again and asked, "Where are you?" We drank tea with Salim Güran. When the tea got cold, my father arrived.
Pedagogue: Where is that place?
Ramazan: Tavşantepe.
Pedagogue: How was Salim Güran?
Ramazan: As always, he was normal.
Pedagogue: What did Salim do afterwards?
Ramazan: He went to change his clothes.
Pedagogue: What did you do next?
Ramazan: My father and Salim Güran arrived; we ate, and we checked our phones. Someone called Salim Güran. Salim said, "Does a girl go missing at this hour?"
CONTRADICTORY STATEMENTS FROM RAMAZAN ATASOY
Pedagogue: You have a voice recording of a conversation with Salim Güran; do you remember it?
Ramazan: No.
Pedagogue: I am going to play this for you now. (Ramazan listens to the audio recording.)
Ramazan: There are corn leeches, the sprinkler was running. Those leeches move, and they move when they fall too.
Pedagogue: This recording was taken at 18:30, but you said you were eating at that time.
Presiding Judge: (Intervening) That time might be different.
Lawyers: (Objecting) The accuracy of the timing in that conversation should be questioned.
Ramazan: It was being searched for on other days as well.
Pedagogue: What would you like to say regarding the conversation that day?
Ramazan: He is my boss.
Presiding Judge: (Interjecting) Ramazan, when you were arrested, you said something while cursing at Salim. Can you ask about that report?
Pedagogue: Ramazan, you said, "Salim, these things happened to us because of you, his clothes were wet, he had changed them."
Ramazan: I did not read my statement; I only signed it.
Presiding Judge: He said that while crying after being arrested; it is not in the statement report.
Pedagogue: You cried in the waiting room and said something.
Ramazan: I don't know.
Pedagogue: Were Salim's feet wet?
Ramazan: I don't remember, I didn't pay attention.
Pedagogue: Where was your father when Salim was with you?
Ramazan: Salim came to me around 3:00-4:00. My father arrived around 5:00, after having tea.
Pedagogue: When did Salim call your father?
Ramazan: He called when he arrived and asked, "Where are you?" My father replied, "I am dropping off the workers."
Pedagogue: Do you have a device you use for electricity theft?
Ramazan: I don't use one; I learned about it later. What was discussed in the audio recording was not electricity theft, but the issue of the sprinkler.
Pedagogue: You say, 'Salim came to me' around 3-4, but Salim calls you at 4 o'clock. If he was with you at 4, why did he call you on the phone?
Ramazan: He went and came back; he changed his clothes. My father went to change the water. Salim said, 'Let me change my clothes and come to you.' I finished my work before he arrived. It was around 18:00.
Prosecutor: (To the pedagogue) The contradiction between 3 and 4 could not be resolved; are you insisting on your statement?
Pedagogue: (Asking Ramazan) Was Salim with you between 3 and 4?
Ramazan: He was with me.
Prosecutor: The contradiction could not be resolved; according to phone records, Salim Güran called Mehmet Selim Arasoy at 17:00.
Pedagogue: Could it have been 5 o'clock instead of between 3 and 4?
Ramazan: I don't remember exactly. When Salim Güran came to me, he called my father about 20 minutes later.
Lawyer Nahit Eren: (Standing up to ask a question) He wanted to ask Ramazan, "Narin Güran constantly says Salim was with me; did someone ask you to say this?"
Pedagogue: (Asking Ramazan) Did someone tell you to say this?
Ramazan: No one told me anything. If they had, I would have said so. That's enough, I just want to get out of here.
Pedagogue: Was Salim Güran always with you?
Ramazan: No one was there. (He gave a different answer to the question)
Nahit Eren: What do you mean by the lower and upper fields?
Ramazan: It is 350 decares, divided into 3 sections. Salim Güran came to the upper field.
Nahit Eren: When did he go down to the lower field?
Ramazan: I forgot the time; I don't remember if it was morning or evening.
Nahit Eren: Did you see anyone other than your father and Salim in the field that day?
Ramazan: There is someone who brings his turkeys and lambs; he was coming every day. I don't know if it was the day of the incident or not, but it seems like 2 people came in the morning and afternoon.
Pedagogue: Did anyone else come when Salim Güran arrived?
Ramazan: My little brother was far away.
Pedagogue: You said earlier, 'I went to the other village.'
Ramazan: I don't remember.
RAMAZON ATASOY: THEY BEAT ME ONCE
Pedagogue: Did you cry when you were arrested?
Ramazan: I cried while I was in custody.
Lawyers from the Ministry of Family and Social Services asked questions.
Pedagogue: Did Salim Güran drop his sisters off at home on the day of the incident?
Ramazan: That was two days before the incident.
Pedagogue: Where were you in the audio recording you listened to?
Ramazan: I was in the field above.
Presiding Judge: Stating that the contradiction could not be resolved, he said there was no need to ask further questions.
The judge asked the defendants one by one if they wanted to ask questions. The defendants said, "No." Salim Güran's lawyer, Onur Akdağ, came to the podium to ask questions.
Onur Akdağwanted to ask whether Ramazan had been mistreated.
Pedagogue: Was there any mistreatment?
Ramazan: They beat me once.
RAMAZON ATASOY'S TESTIMONY CONCLUDED
Nevzat Bahtiyar's lawyer, Adnan Aktaş, came to the podium to ask questions. He asked if he had ever gone down to the lower field.
Pedagogue: (Asking the question)
Ramazan: I went down once.
Pedagogue: Is there a mound in the area where you were working in the lower field? Is there anything that would allow you to see the entire area?
Ramazan: No.
Pedagogue: Is there a raised area between the two fields?
Ramazan: No. One field ends, and the other begins.
Nevzat Bahtiyar's two lawyers, Ali Eryılmaz, approached the stand.
Ali Eryılmaz: Does Salim Güran know his father-in-law?
Ramazan: I might have gone there once, regarding a sprinkler issue; perhaps it was related to his house.
Lawyer Ali Eryılmaz: Did they go to the farm on the day of the incident?
Ramazan: We went. We went with Salim Güran, but I don't remember the time.
Ali Eryılmaz: Did you meet someone named Mahfus that day?
Ramazan: He is the owner of the farm. We went with my father after the incident as well. He told me not to leave the cow manure there.
Presiding Judge: The other question was not asked because it was accusatory.
Thus, Ramazan Atasoy's testimony concluded.
FAMILY COUNCIL MEETING FOOTAGE PLAYED
Shepherd Ahmet Akgün took the witness stand. At that moment, camera footage from in front of Erhan Güran's house was displayed on the screen. Despite objections from the defense attorneys, it was decided to watch the footage identified as the Family Council.
Presiding Judge: Mr. Ahmet, this is the place where Erhan is. Is the person here you?
Ahmet Akgün: Yes, it is me.
Presiding Judge: Let's play the video.
(They are watching the video.)
COURT PRESIDENT: NO ONE CAN DO ANYTHING TO YOU
Court President: Why were you brought here?
Ahmet Akgün: I came home and dropped off my bag. Ömer came and said, "5 minutes, Erhan is calling you." He asked me, and I said I didn't know anything.
Court President: Did you see Narin on the day of the incident?
Ahmet Akgün: I never saw it.
Presiding Judge: Why don't they believe you?
Ahmet Akgün: I don't know either.
Presiding Judge: What happened in the back?
Ahmet Akgün: That person hit me, and then they gave me a watch as a gift.
The witness began to cry. The Presiding Judge stepped down from the bench, "No one can do anything to you, calm down, drink some water" he said.
Presiding Judge: Did you see Enes with the girl on the day of the incident?
Ahmet Akgün: No, I did not see anything, I swear on my honor.
Presiding Judge: Did you see anyone in the barn?
Ahmet Akgün: No.
Presiding Judge: Why are they asking you about the girl?
Ahmet Akgün: I did not see.
“THE PROSECUTOR WENT TO THE WITNESS AND ESTABLISHED EYE CONTACT”
The trial prosecutor began asking questions.
Prosecutor: Who do you receive your salary from?
Ahmet: From 4 people.
Prosecutor: Do you receive money from the Gürans?
Ahmet: No, I do not.
Prosecutor: You know the defendants, don't you? You recognize their faces.
Ahmet: Yes.
Prosecutor: How was the relationship between Salim and Nevzat?
Ahmet: They were like brothers.
Prosecutor: You previously said on television, 'I was afraid they would beat me.' Who else did they beat?
Ahmet: I was afraid they would beat me, but I don't know of them beating anyone else.
PROSECUTOR SHOWED THE WITNESS A PHOTOGRAPH!
The prosecutor stood up and showed a photo on her phone to the witness.
Defense attorneys: “We want to see it too” they said.
The prosecutor: “I know you are curious, and I am curious too. Relax, you will see it.” he said.
Prosecutor: When was this photo taken, was it on August 21?
Ahmet: I don't remember, it could have been another day.
Prosecutor: Who brought you to the back?
Ahmet: Baran Kurtuluş and a total of 4 people arrived.
Prosecutor: Did Erhan come to the back?
Ahmet: Yes, he did.
Prosecutor: But Erhan says he did not go.
Ahmet: Erhan arrived.
Prosecutor: Why did Erhan come to the back?
Ahmet: He said he didn't know.
(The witness began to cry again)
Prosecutor: Look, you are upset, but we are also upset for Narin. I know you are upset too, that is why I am asking."
Prosecutor: Are they asking you to confirm something?
Ahmet: They say, "You are with the animals, you must have seen it."
Prosecutor: Enes talks a lot, they keep mentioning Enes, you hear it too, but you say you didn't hear Enes.
Ahmet: Erhan is talking in front of me, they say, "Enes."
The prosecutor went over to the witness and, making eye contact, said “No one can make you feel ashamed. Tell me what they said about Enes” she said.
Ahmet: “They say, ‘You saw Enes,’ but where would I see Enes?”
Prosecutor: What did they talk about in your presence?
Ahmet: I don't know.
Presiding Judge: According to the records, they call Enes 'the most dishonorable of the dishonorable, Enes.' Did you hear this?
Ahmet: I did not see it. I am a shepherd; I do not harm anyone.
Lawyer Nahit Eren began questioning the witness.
Nahit Eren: At what time do you take the animals home?
Witness Ahmet: At 18:30.
Nahit Eren: You were called into the room on September 7, right? Narin was found the morning of that meeting. Is that the issue?
Witness Ahmet: No.
Nahit Eren: Who is the person standing next to you?
Witness Ahmet: Ensarioğlu. (That person is not the Ensarioğlu whose name was mentioned in the public eye during the murder.)
Nahit Eren: Were you subjected to profanity?
Witness Ahmet: No.
Nahit Eren: The question is being asked about the phrase 'the woman was on the road.' These individuals are looking for a motive for this murder. The family knows the reason for the murder, which is why they are asking these questions.
Witness Ahmet: I do not remember.
(Nahit Eren begins to ask a question in Kurdish.)
Nahit Eren: Did they use the phrase "scoundrel of a scoundrel"?
Witness Ahmet: I did not hear it.
Nahit Eren: Erhan puts his hand on the table and says, "We said something, we will bring the person on the other side, we will grab them by the throat and bring them." Then he says to you, "Speak, you donkey, speak maturely."
Witness Ahmet: I was not asked such a question.
Ahmet started crying again. Nahit Eren stopped asking questions.
THE PRESIDING JUDGE JOKINGLY ASKS, "SHOULD WE HOLD A GUN TO HIS HEAD?"
Nevzat Bahtiyar's lawyer, Adnan Ataş, began to ask questions:
Adnan Ataş: Why didn't you file a complaint?
Witness Ahmet: I was not.
Defendant Enes wanted to ask witness Ahmet a question:
Enes: I want to say who used my name.
Witness Ahmet: I don't know who said it.
Enes returned to his seat, and defendant Nevzat Bahtiyar's lawyer, Ali Eryılmaz, began to ask questions:
Lawyer Ali Eryılmaz: We want you to tell the truth you know for Narin.
Witness Ahmet: I don't know.
The presiding judge did not allow repetitive questions. The lawyer said, “The only witness we have must speak” The presiding judge replied, “Should I hold a gun to his head?” he said. The presiding judge then made a statement: "I do not have a weapon." Witness Ahmet addressed the judge, saying, "My life, farewell to you." The judge replied, "May God spare you for my children."
Defense attorney Narin Eren wanted to ask a question:
Attorney: How did this evidence arrive?
The presiding judge did not allow the attorney to question the other attorney. Thus, the testimony of the shepherd Ahmet concluded.
ERHAN GÜRAN FIRST DENIED BEATING THE SHEPHERD, THEN ADMITTED TO IT
Erhan Güran took the stand to testify. The presiding judge asked, "In the first hearing, you said there was no family council, but camera footage has emerged. What do you have to say?" he asked.
Erhan Güran: This shepherd was coming to his house around 18:00. Since they told me Narin was missing at that time, I called him. He told me that when he entered the village, he didn't see anyone. I walked away from him; he couldn't open the door and jumped over the wall to enter the house. He was acting suspiciously. We were eating in front of the house, and I said, 'Call Ahmet.' Ahmet came and sat down. We asked Ahmet, 'You are entering the village at that hour, and you say you didn't see anyone; are you entering the house with your eyes closed?' The question we asked was for the purpose of finding your daughter.
Presiding Judge: You are chasing a girl there, you are asking Enes, there is another scenario.
Erhan Güran: That girl they are talking about, they are referring to my daughter. They are making comments about honor.
Presiding Judge: I asked you this in the previous session, why didn't you say it?
Erhan Güran: It didn't come to my mind.
Presiding Judge: For God's sake, stop it; I asked you, and you didn't say anything. I will call Arif Güran.
Erhan Güran: We are also struggling.
Presiding Judge: We, you are hiding something from us.
Erhan Güran: We are not hiding anything, I forgot.
Presiding Judge: Did you take the shepherd to the back and beat him? Did you use violence?
Erhan Güran: Let them be found, I personally did not, but a few slaps were thrown because he lied.
Presiding Judge: Who are they referring to as the "scum of the scum"?
Erhan Güran: I didn't say it, I didn't hear it.
The prosecutor began asking questions:
Prosecutor: This video surfaced, and you said, "We forgot." You forgot the details. You said, "I didn't get up from where I was sitting," but did you go to the back or not?
Erhan Güran: I got up when Ahmet called, and I went to the back.
Prosecutor: You said, "I never got up from my seat," why are you lying?
Erhan Güran: I went, I did not get up from my seat during the swearing.
Prosecutor: Did they beat you a lot?
Erhan Güran: No.
Prosecutor: What is this mystery in the back?
Erhan Güran: Because they are talking in the back.
Prosecutor: Did you get your answer?
Erhan Güran: No.
Prosecutor: Why did you insist that you definitely did not go to the back?
Erhan Güran: I went, it was a different question about the back.
A lawyer from the Diyarbakır Bar Association began asking questions:
Lawyer: Where is the shepherd Ahmet grazing?
Erhan Güran: It is on the lower side of my house.
Lawyer: Can Arif Güran see my house or my barn?
Erhan Güran: (No answer was given.)
Lawyer: Who was at the meeting?
Erhan Güran: I cannot name them all. Arif Güran, Ali Rıza Güran, Mesut Mehmetoğlu, Ensari Güney, Ferhat Kaya, and Baran Güran were there.
Lawyer: The person in the blue outfit asks, "Did you see the woman?"
Erhan Güran: First he said, "I didn't see her," then he said, "I saw her," I don't remember his name.
Lawyer: Did you see the man?
Erhan Güran: I don't know.
Now the defense attorneys have begun asking questions:
Nevzat Bahtiyar's lawyer, Attorney Adnan Ataş: The name Enes keeps coming up while questioning the shepherd, but you are saying other things. Why are you asking about Enes?
Erhan Güran: We didn't use it, we didn't ask about Enes.
Attorney Adnan Ataş: It is said that you are told not to tell the prosecutor.
Erhan Güran: There is no such thing.
Lawyer Adnan Ataş: The women say that they were not allowed into the meeting, why?
Erhan Güran: There is no such thing; the women hosted the women who arrived.
Lawyer Adnan Ataş: In his statement, Enes says that Salim and Arif were feuding, you called them, but they did not come.
Erhan Güran: The money was paid, the problem was resolved.
Lawyer Onur Akdağ: Did you question Nevzat?
Erhan Güran: No.
Lawyer Ali Eryılmaz: Is it a coincidence that this meeting took place and Narin's body was found the next day?
Erhan Güran: Coincidence. How did the camera footage emerge?
Lawyer Ali Eryılmaz: Why was this meeting held 15 days later?
Erhan Güran: I wasn't suspicious at that time.
Lawyer Ali Eryılmaz: Salim was caught 7 days before that meeting. Didn't you think that a criminal had been caught?
Erhan Güran: I did not think about it, I did not blame Salim.
FATHER ARİF GÜRAN ON THE STAND
Erhan Güran's testimony concluded. Arif Güran took the witness stand.
ARİF GÜRAN: WE GATHERED TO EAT
Presiding Judge: Do you have anything to say regarding the witness statements?
Arif Güran: I was also in the camera angle of Ahmet. We did not go there for a meeting; we went to eat. The subject of Ahmet came up, and I called him to my tent thinking, "Maybe he knows something." Since this man arrived in the village at 18:00, and İsa said he saw Narin in the village at 18:00, we called Ahmet.
Presiding Judge: Why wasn't Enes there?
Arif Güran: There was no plan. They called me to eat after I came out of prayer. I was only concerned with how my daughter went missing.
Presiding Judge: Is there anything you want to be investigated?
Arif Güran: Apparently, the airport camera was broken. Did every malfunction have to happen to my daughter?
Nevzat Bahtiyar approached the defendant's stand.
Presiding Judge: Is there anything you would like to tell us?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: No.
Arif Güran's lawyer began to ask questions:
Lawyer: Can you explain what happened on August 21?
Defense attorney: Objected, saying, "I have already explained."
Arif Güran's attorney: Where was your son, Ferhat Bahtiyar?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: He went to work.
Arif Güran's attorney: How does Salim know which football school your son attends?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: I don't know.
Arif Güran's lawyer: Did you throw Narin from behind the house?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: We had opened a vent behind the barn for the animals. I put Narin in through there.
Arif Güran's lawyer: Your son says in the program he participated in that he left her by the side of the barn; how does he know that?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: I don't know. Maybe I told them, I don't know, but I don't remember saying it.
Arif Güran's lawyer: Did you go to Tavşantepe on the day Narin was found?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: No, I was working.
Arif Güran's lawyer: Did you have dinner with Suheyla Özkan on September 8?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: I may have eaten it, I don't remember.
Arif Güran's lawyer: Do you know Necmettin Kaya?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: I know him, I have no kinship with him, he is a village guard.
Arif Güran's lawyer: Where was Necmettin Kaya?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: I don't remember.
Lawyer Nahit Eren began asking questions:
Lawyer Nahit Eren: In your police station record, you are asked about Salim's relationships; you first say there are none, then you say there are some at the prosecutor's office.
Nevzat Bahtiyar: No. (Due to an argument breaking out, his other remarks could not be understood.)
Lawyer Nahit Eren: We also examined the Dara 2 location. According to the base station data, how did Salim take the blanket from you?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: I put it in the car, Salim came at that moment, took the blanket from me, and then drove off downwards; I don't know which direction.
Lawyer Nahit Eren: Where exactly was the vehicle?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: I don't remember, it was on the side of the mosque.
Lawyer Nahit Eren: Did you open Narin's bag in the creek bed?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: I did not.
From Nevzat Bahtiyar to the defense attorney;
"If you like eggplant so much, I'll buy you some eggplant."
Yüksel Güran's lawyer took the floor and began questioning Nevzat Bahtiyar.
Defense attorneyJudge: Can you explain regarding Salim, whom you said came using the mosque road?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: He came from the mosque road.
Defense attorney: Where did you meet?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: On the street.
Defense attorney: Which street?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: There is a road by the house door, that is the one.
A map was brought in front of Nevzat Bahtiyar. He pointed to that road on the map.
Defense attorney: Did you go towards Longbahçe?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: I went when I was dropping off Narin, I did not go at night.
Defense attorney: Based on the cell tower records, we have doubts about your account. Salim came, called you, and you went to the house together. Salim came to the barn and took the blanket. You have a statement, and there is new evidence in the case file: the pedometer.
Nevzat Bahtiyar: I don't know if his phone was with him.
Defense attorney: A hook was found inside the sack; who put it there?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: It was definitely not me; I did not put it there. Salim might have followed me and put it there.
Defense attorney: Why do you think this family wants to slander you?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: I don't know.
Defense attorney: Why does he call Salim on the phone if he took water from his mother, and why is eggplant being mentioned?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: It's a complete lie; there is no such thing as eggplant. If he likes eggplants so much, I'll buy him some.
A dispute broke out among the defense attorneys over the taking of photographs.
Defense attorney Mahir Akbilek, representing defendant Enes Güran, began asking questions.
Attorney Mahir Akbilek: Where were you when Narin's body was being searched for?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: It was out in the open.
Attorney Mahir Akbilek: Does Necmettin Kaya work on the Dara 2 camera system?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: I don't remember.
Lawyer Mahir Akbilek: Did you go to Dara 2?
Nevzat Bahtiyar: No.
Lawyer Onur Akdağ complained to the presiding judge because he was being filmed in the courtroom. He stated that he was being targeted. He claimed the footage was taken by Nevzat Bahtiyar's lawyer, Ali Eryılmaz. Ali Eryılmaz stated that the photo was taken before the hearing began and reacted to lawyer Onur Akdağ. The presiding judge stated that there was no issue regarding the time the photo was taken.
Yüksel Güran uttered curses.
Nevzat Bahtiyar: I regret it; I wanted to move Narin's body, but I couldn't find the opportunity.
Salim Güran approached the defendant's stand. The presiding judge asked if he had anything to say regarding the witnesses' statements.
Salim Güran: The camera on Dara 2 Street can even see a cat. Necmettin Kaya works there.
Presiding Judge: Are you claiming that the village guard altered the footage?
Salim Güran: I never said anything like that.
Presiding Judge: Did a village guard enter and change it in a place where even I did not enter?
Salim Güran: It is possible.
Salim Güran sat down. Defendant Yüksel Güran took his place.
Presiding Judge: Is there anything you would like to have investigated?
Yüksel Güran: I want the murderer of Narin.
As she returned to her seat, she insulted Nevzat Bahtiyar. The presiding judge intervened.
Subsequently, defendant Enes Güran took the stand.
Presiding Judge: Is there anything you would like to say?
Enes Güran: None.
Enes Güran took his place.
SALİM GÜRAN: I WILL NOT ANSWER THIS LAWYER'S QUESTIONS
Defendant Salim Güran returned to the stand.
Lawyer Adnan Ataş began asking questions:
Lawyer Adnan Ataş: Is Necmettin Kaya also a relative of yours?
Salim Güran: A distant relative, but closer to Nevzat.
Lawyer Adnan Ataş: You went to Dara 2.
Salim Güran: No, I did not go.
Lawyer Adnan Ataş: It was stated that you deleted your WhatsApp records. You said you deleted them because of the ammunition, is that correct?
Salim Güran: Yes, I gave that answer.
Lawyer Adnan Ataş: In your statement to the prosecutor's office, you said, "Narin did not get into the car."
Salim Güran: They asked me, and I gave an answer regarding the day of the incident.
Lawyer Ali Eryılmaz: Mr. Salim, where does one put their mobile phone when both hands are full?
Salim Güran: I am not answering this lawyer who took a photo with Nevzat's wife.
Lawyer Ali Eryılmaz: Did you see Nevzat near your house on the day of the murder?
Salim Güran: I am not answering this lawyer.
HEARING ADJOURNED
Enes Güran then took the stand.
Defense Attorney: Where did you last celebrate your birthday?
Enes Güran: I do not remember.
The Presiding Judge asked the trial prosecutor:
Presiding Judge: Will you change your opinion?
Prosecutor: The discretion lies with the court; we have nothing to add.
Following this, a lunch break was called for the hearing. The hearing will resume at 15:30.
