Veteran journalist makes Sedat Peker claim regarding Öcalan! 'Against the possibility of house arrest...'

The donation of 1 million 800 thousand TL by organized crime leader Sedat Peker to retired Special Operations Police officer Ömer Korkmaz, who suffered a stroke, and the subsequent expression of gratitude by MHP's İzzet Ulvi Yönter, has become a major topic of discussion. T24 columnist Tolga Şardan criticized the Police Department's silence on the matter while also raising the claim that Peker would return to Turkey in March. In his column, Şardan stated, "It is even being whispered behind closed doors that Peker will set foot in Turkey during the same period, against the possibility of Abdullah Öcalan being released to house arrest."

Veteran journalist makes Sedat Peker claim regarding Öcalan! 'Against the possibility of house arrest...'

Organized crime leader Sedat Peker had sent 1 million 800 thousand TL through his lawyer for the medical and care expenses of Special Operations Police officer Ömer Korkmaz, who retired after suffering a stroke due to a health issue.

MHP's İzzet Ulvi Yönter, meanwhile, quoted this news about Peker and thanked him, saying, “May God be pleased with you.”

T24 columnist Tolga Şardan drew attention to the Police Department's silence regarding the financial aid provided by crime leader Sedat Peker in his column today.

“I wonder what the Ministry of Interior, which manages the country's millions of liras in Secret Funds, and the Police organization, where the police officer who lost his health served for years and wore its uniform, are doing?” asked Şardan, continuing as follows:

“How can the ministry and the Police administration turn a blind eye to the fact that the money required for a retired member of the organization who has lost his health to recover is provided by a crime leader?

Sir, the fact that the police officer who lost his health is retired does not change the situation!

Ultimately, is it not the duty of the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Security to pay the cost required for the recovery of a police officer who has served the state and public security in uniform? If they used scheduled flights a few times during their domestic air travels, it would be possible for them to cover the amount the retired police officer needs.

Let's say it is not possible to cover it from the Secret Fund; what are civil society organizations like the Police Foundation and the Police Fund for?”

In the remainder of his column, Şardan pointed to the post by MHP's İzzet Ulvi Yönter, commenting, “If someone else had made the post in question about Peker, a judicial investigation would have been launched against them on charges of 'praising a crime organization leader.'”

Reminding that the posts MHP's Yönter made against Sedat Peker during the period when Süleyman Soylu was Minister of Interior are still in the archives, Şardan reported that it is being discussed in political circles that Sedat Peker will come to Turkey in March.

The relevant part of Şardan's column is as follows:

“Of course, what is reflected in the Ankara corridors is not limited to these.

A noteworthy piece of information is that Peker will come to Turkey in the near future, most likely in March. This information is available within the Police. It is also being discussed in political circles.

It is even being whispered behind closed doors that Peker will set foot in Turkey during the same period, against the possibility of Abdullah Öcalan being released to house arrest.

In my opinion, it is useful to read the current political position of former Interior Minister Soylu, whose name was not on the list in the assignments made to the MKYK at the AKP's congress on Sunday, and his statement that 'I am leaving politics,' together with the calendar regarding Peker.”
