Vice President Yılmaz's statement on local election results
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz made a statement regarding the local elections held yesterday.
Yılmaz made the following assessments regarding the local election results on his X account:
"Turkey has conducted the Local Administration Elections in a manner befitting its democracy. I wish for the results, which have emerged through the will of our citizens, to be beneficial to our country, our nation, and our cities. We have now entered a period of over four years without elections, which is of vital importance on the path to reaching higher goals in democracy and development.
Despite the economic contraction in the world following the pandemic, the wars in our region, and the additional burdens brought by the greatest disaster in our history, our country maintains its strong structure. In this period, we will heal the wounds of the earthquake and prepare our cities for the future in a much more resilient manner.
We are increasing growth, employment, and our exports in the economy, and we are reducing our current account deficit. We are strengthening our structure through investment and production. Fighting inflation, both economically and socially, is our primary priority. We will achieve this by resolutely implementing the program we announced last year.
Starting from the second half of this year, we will begin to see the results of our fight against inflation clearly. Thus, we will prevent the erosion of wage increases over time and ensure a permanent increase in prosperity. While carrying out structural reforms in the economy, we will focus on improving the efficiency of public administration, raising our democratic standards, and establishing a more effectively functioning justice system.
Our goal is to grow within democratic stability and to reflect the fruits of this growth to all segments of society in a fair manner."
