'A trustee was appointed because he shared a photo of Kılıçdaroğlu': Former AKP official allegedly explained

Özkan announced that a trustee had been appointed to the Cumhuriyet Neighborhood Headmanship (Muhtarlık) in İzmir's Karşıyaka district. Headman Özay Dağhan, who was replaced by a trustee, stated that a former AKP official told him, "Because you shared Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu."

Announcing the appointment of a trustee to the Cumhuriyet Neighborhood Headmanship in İzmir's Karşıyaka district on his social media account, Tuncay Özkan called on the Ministry of Interior to perform their duties in the face of this arbitrary practice.

"NO INVESTIGATION"

In his post, Özkan stated the following:

"A trustee has been appointed to a headman as well. Turkey has seen this too. İzmir Karşıyaka Cumhuriyet Neighborhood Headman Özay Dağhan was removed from office by the District Governor and a trustee was appointed in his place, despite there being no investigation against him. I call on the Minister of Interior to take action against this arbitrary practice."

In the video he released, Özkan also directed questions to Özay Dağhan, who was replaced by the trustee.

When Özkan asked how the trustee process unfolded, Dağhan said:

"During the celebration of Headmen's Day, we gathered with all our fellow headmen in front of the district governor's building. After the ceremony ended, we were going to go to our Karşıyaka Mayor. We got on the shuttle and I saw documents in the hands of my other fellow headmen. I was the only one who wasn't given one. I called the district governor's office and asked the clerk working there why I wasn't given a document, and they said, 'The District Governor did not deem it appropriate for you.'

I called the District Governor and asked, 'Mr. District Governor, such a document was given to all the headmen, why wasn't it given to me?' He said to me, 'I did not deem it appropriate. You are problematic and irresponsible.' That remark really hurt me. I called him again, he didn't answer; I called him again at 23:45 at night, that day was Friday. He hung up on me again. Then I sent him a message saying, 'How can you call me problematic and irresponsible when you are a district governor appointed by the Presidency?' Finally, I wrote, 'May God damn you.'

"10-14 POLICE OFFICERS SURROUNDED THE HEADMAN'S OFFICE"

The next day, they surrounded the headman's office with 10-14 police officers; my family was inside and they entered. The police who came said, 'We have come to take your seal,' and I was removed from office. They appointed a friend of mine who had walked the path with me in my place."

"IF YOU HAD SHARED TAYYİP BEY, THE DISTRICT GOVERNOR WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THE POWER"

Dağhan stated that he spoke with former AKP District Chair and 2024 Karşıyaka Mayoral Candidate İsmail Çiftçioğlu regarding the matter, and that Çiftçioğlu told him that Dağhan's sharing of CHP's 7th Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu on his social media account was the problem, and that if he had shared Erdoğan, he would not have been removed from office, noting the following:

"I went to the office of AK Party District Chair and 2024 Karşıyaka Mayoral Candidate İsmail Çiftçioğlu. I said to him, 'Mr. Chair, an incident happened to me. You used to come to our headman's office in all previous elections and drink my tea and coffee. This incident happened to me, why didn't you call and ask, why didn't you say get well soon?' And he said to me, 'Headman, we couldn't say it, we can't say it. Because you shared Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.' Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had come to our neighborhood before and had stood by us. Because I felt a debt of loyalty to him, I shared him on my page. Çiftçioğlu told me, 'I wish you had shared Tayyip Bey instead of Kemal Bey; the district governor would not have had the power to remove you.'"

Dağhan also stated that he has applied to the court and will seek his rights to the end.
