An election for an acting mayor was held to replace CHP Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe, who was arrested and suspended from duty as part of the 5th wave of operations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), and the election was won by the AKP candidate Eray Karadeniz.
AKP Kayseri MP Ayşe Böhürler, while commenting on the issue during a live broadcast, mistakenly believed that Hakan Bahçetepe had resigned from the CHP and joined the AKP.
Participating in a live broadcast on HaberTürk, Böhürler made a notable statement while commenting on the latest developments at the Gaziosmanpaşa Municipality.
Böhürler said, "I think Mr. Hakan will provide much better service by joining the AK Party. I say welcome to the AK Party to him."
