Another pile-up accident in Mersin: 2 dead, 6 injured

Turkey woke up to the news of a pile-up traffic accident on the Northern Marmara Motorway. Following the incident, which as of 08:24 had resulted in 10 deaths and nearly 50 injuries, information was received that another pile-up accident had occurred in Mersin. 2 people lost their lives and 6 people were injured in the accident.

The car with license plate 34 TC 6526, while traveling from Okan Merzeci Boulevard in the central Yenişehir district towards the Mezitli district, lost control as it entered the Democracy Junction, first hitting an electric pole on the median and then another vehicle coming from the opposite direction. At that moment, 3 more vehicles under the bridge were involved in the accident. In the pile-up involving 5 vehicles, Mehmet Filiz (23) and an unidentified person lost their lives, and 6 people were injured.

While the injured were taken to hospitals in the region by ambulances dispatched to the scene, the bodies of those who died in the accident were taken to the Mersin University Faculty of Medicine Hospital morgue for autopsy.

It was reported that the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
