Armed attack in Esenler: Hail of bullets in the middle of the street
In the Esenler district of Istanbul, 48-year-old Selami Yılmaz was subjected to an armed attack by an individual who approached him from behind. While Yılmaz, who was seriously injured, lost his life at the hospital, a large-scale operation has been launched to capture the assailant, identified as G.P.
An armed attack that took place in the evening hours in Istanbul's Esenler district resulted in the death of one person. In the incident that occurred on Şehit Ali Karahan Street in the Oruç Reis neighborhood, a 48-year-old citizen named Selami Yılmaz was shot and seriously wounded in the middle of the street.
Upon notification, teams from the Esenler Police Department's Public Security Bureau were dispatched to the scene, where they took extensive security measures and began investigating the details of the attack. Yılmaz, who received initial medical intervention at the scene, was transported to the hospital by ambulance. However, despite all efforts by doctors, he could not be saved and lost his life.
ASSAILANT IDENTIFIED
Police teams identified the attacker by examining security cameras at the scene. As a result of investigations supported by witness statements, it was determined that the person who carried out the attack was a suspect named G.P.
The Istanbul Police have launched a multi-faceted operation to capture the suspect, who fled on foot immediately after the attack. Teams are evaluating addresses where the suspect might be hiding one by one, and a large-scale search operation is being conducted across the city.

The chilling moment of the attack was recorded by the security camera of a business near the scene. In the footage, it was seen that while Selami Yılmaz was walking on the sidewalk, an individual approached from behind and fired several shots with a handgun.
