Arrests made in investigation regarding diploma allegations against İmamoğlu

Two suspects who threatened Ozan Özcan, who had filed a criminal complaint alleging that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma was fraudulent, and his family, have been apprehended in İzmir and arrested.

Ozan Özcan, who filed a criminal complaint alleging that the diploma of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor and CHP presidential candidate hopeful Ekrem İmamoğlu was fraudulent, filed a complaint with the Ankara Provincial Police Department, stating that he and his family had received threats.

An investigation was launched following Özcan's complaint.

According to İHA, as a result of the work carried out by the Cyber Crimes Department, the suspects were identified as F.E.H. (27) and Y.E.Ş. (27). The suspects, who were determined to be in İzmir, were apprehended in the Çiğli district in an operation conducted by teams from the Public Security Branch's Murder Bureau, the SAM Bureau, and the Intelligence Branch.

It was determined that suspect F.E.H. (27) was wanted with a 6-year prison sentence for fraud by using public institutions and organizations as a tool, escape of a prisoner or detainee, and fraud, and was also a fugitive in armed threat cases from Istanbul and Ankara.

On the other hand, it emerged that a woman named A.Y. (34) also filed a complaint, stating that she met the suspects on a social media application, was forcibly held in the residence where the suspects were staying, and that they forced her to send money from her account. The rifle and digital devices used in both incidents were seized.

Under the coordination of the Karşıyaka Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the 2 suspects referred to judicial authorities by the Murder Bureau were arrested and sent to prison on charges of armed robbery, sexual assault, deprivation of liberty, violation of Law No. 6136, threats, violation of privacy, making false statements, and armed threat charges from Ankara and Istanbul.
