Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hazal Papuççular is the guest of Filtresiz with Özge Uzun: 'Atatürk is still seen as a political rival'

The guest this week on the program Filtresiz, prepared and hosted by the successful screen personality Özge Uzun, was 12punto columnist and Fenerbahçe University faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hazal Papuççular. Papuççular shared her thoughts on the Republic and the achievements of the Republic with 12punto viewers.

Fenerbahçe University faculty member and 12Punto columnist Hazal Papuççular made statements regarding the concept of merit, which is frequently debated in today's society, and the desire of young people to move abroad. Speaking about the recent increase in brain drain, Papuççular stated that it is understandable for young people to seek a future abroad, and called for a review of the understanding of merit and social values as a society to reverse this process.

EMPHASIS ON A NEW UNDERSTANDING

Stating, "We cannot blame our young people if we cannot provide them with the spaces they deserve as a society," Papuççular emphasized that young people need opportunities not only for their individual futures but also to strengthen their ties to society. Noting that young people's sense of belonging weakens when a merit-based structure is not established in society, Papuççular used the expression, "In order to prevent social erosion, we must create a strong social bond and understanding of merit for individuals and young people."

'THE REPUBLIC TRANSFORMED A PALACE LEFT BY THE DYNASTY INTO AN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION'

Making striking statements on the Republic and educational opportunities, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hazal Papuççular stated that one of the turning points in her life was getting into Kabataş High School. Growing up in a lower-middle-income family, Papuççular said, "If I have been able to achieve or produce anything in life, I achieved it by working hard."

Drawing attention to the opportunities offered by the Republic, Papuççular said, "The Republic transformed a palace left by the dynasty into an educational institution. As an individual from the lower-middle class coming from a part of Istanbul, I found the opportunity to study in that palace and improve myself."

ATATÜRK DID NOT LEAVE US AN UNCHANGEABLE, UNTRANSFORMABLE LEGACY

Sharing her thoughts on the Republic and Atatürk's legacy, Hazal Papuççular stated that the Republic is a value that will be shaped on all of our shoulders. Papuççular said, "Whatever the Republic is, we are the ones who make it that way. If we want something better today, we are the ones who will achieve it."

Reminding us that the most important legacy Atatürk left us is the Republic on this special day when we commemorate him, Papuççular emphasized the importance of working and contributing with the words, "Atatürk did not leave us an unchangeable, untransformable, or unimprovable legacy. The Republic continues to exist as an ideal that can be carried further in our hands."
