Ayyüce Türkeş speaks out at her father's grave: 'Fists were flying'

Ayyüce Türkeş's vehicle was not allowed to enter the cemetery when she wanted to visit her father, Alparslan Türkeş, on the occasion of the May 3 Turkic Day. When Türkeş wanted to continue her way on foot, she was met with violence.

After overcoming the shock of the incident, Ayyüce Türkeş, whose driver and bodyguard were attacked, described what happened in a video:

In the video statement she shared on her social media account in the dark, Türkeş said the following:

"Today is May 3, Turkic Day. I celebrate all of your Turkic Day. On this occasion, I came to visit my father's grave in the evening.

I arrived and saw that they were not letting the car in. I got out and walked. I was able to enter, but when I turned around, fists were flying. They punched my bodyguard and my driver. I still do not understand why this was done.

This is a grave. Alparslan Türkeş's grave; he is a person who belongs to Turkey. Everyone can visit him. Especially on a day that caused Alparslan Türkeş to be born politically, on May 3 Turkic Day, everyone can visit Alparslan Türkeş. No one can stand between Alparslan Türkeş and those who love him. No one has any right over this grave either. If there is anyone who has a say regarding this grave, it is the Türkeş family. I am very sad that I experienced these things. I hope such a thing never happens again and I hope no one who comes to this grave is turned away."

STATEMENT FROM IYI PARTY

Evaluating the scandal for SÖZCÜ TV, IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez made the following statements during the live broadcast:

"Our Adana Deputy is going to visit her father's grave. Our party had a meeting. She is going to the grave after that. When she arrived, there was a group of 150 people around the grave. Ayyüce Hanım's advisors were severely beaten. They managed to reach the grave.

"THE ATTACK HAPPENED WHILE THE POLICE WERE THERE"

Currently, the police have blockaded the grave. Ayyüce Hanım cannot get out. I called the Ankara Police Chief and the Minister of Interior. They said they would take measures immediately. They were not aware of it either. Türkeş is a politician who belongs to Turkey. Ayyüce Hanım is going to her father's grave. While the police are there, a group there attacks our deputy. Do I have to leave a live broadcast to call the Minister of Interior and the Police Chief for something like this? What is our country coming to?"

TÜRKEŞ IS NOT LEAVING

When Ayyüce Türkeş went to her father's grave, her driver and advisor were attacked by a group. Ayyüce Türkeş has not left the memorial grave since 19:00.

Some party officials are working to persuade Ayyüce Türkeş, who has not left the memorial grave.
