The Black Sea Coastal Road, which cost approximately 4.2 billion dollars and involved 138 million cubic meters of excavation and filling, 180 million tons of reinforcement, and 3 million cubic meters of concrete production, has merged with the sea between Hopa and Kemalpaşa.
Journalist İsmail Saymaz said in a post on social media: "The Black Sea Coastal Road, which cost billions of dollars, has merged with the Black Sea. The road between Hopa and Kemalpaşa has joined with the sea. Look at this disgrace..."

Minister of Transport Binali Yıldırım spoke at the Transportation Policies in Turkey Seminar held at the Ankara University Institute of Science Conference Hall and said regarding the Black Sea Coastal Road: "It was a wrong project, but we had to build it. I can say this easily now. A serious amount of money had been spent. An amount exceeding 700 trillion [old Turkish Lira] had been spent. It had to be finished."
