A 'bribery' operation was conducted at the Büyükçekmece Municipality in Istanbul early this morning. 20 people, including the deputy mayor, were detained in the operation.
According to the information received, teams from the Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau, acting within the scope of an investigation conducted by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, carried out an extensive operation regarding allegations of chain 'bribery' at the Büyükçekmece Municipality.
The button was pressed for the operation during efforts initiated regarding a bribery investigation based on zoning corruption. It was reported that 20 suspects, including Büyükçekmece Deputy Mayor Nuraydın Sak, were detained in raids carried out consecutively at numerous addresses this morning.
It was reported that the 20 detained suspects were taken to the Financial Crimes Bureau for questioning and that their police interrogation procedures have begun.
