Cemal Enginyurt challenges those saying 'you're next'! He thundered on live television

CHP Istanbul Deputy Cemal Enginyurt reacted sharply to the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on the Arena program hosted by Uğur Dündar on Sözcü TV.

Directing harsh criticism at Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, Enginyurt used strong language against the government. Enginyurt said, "I am addressing Yılmaz Tunç: We do not trust your justice; you have trampled justice underfoot. If you had justice, if you were fair, you could not have detained the mayor of a city of 16 million with such an accusation."

"DEM PARTY IS FALLING FOR A GAME"

Touching upon the 'new resolution process' debates in his speech, Enginyurt addressed the DEM Party, stating, "You are falling for a game, a setup. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will deceive you too and say: 'The DEM members deceived me'."

"AN INVESTIGATION IS OPENED INTO İMAMOĞLU, BUT..."

Stating that the judiciary is applying double standards, Enginyurt expressed his reaction by saying, "You will call the baby-killer terrorist leader 'esteemed', you will call him 'sir', you will even call him the founding leader of the PKK, but on the other hand, you will open an investigation with terrorism charges against Ekrem İmamoğlu, a person who has managed the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality for 7 years and Beylikdüzü for 5 years before that! And we are expected to wait for this Minister of Justice to say 'Trust the justice, be patient'."

Stating that trust in the justice system has been shaken, Enginyurt continued his criticism, saying, "Which justice of yours should we trust? Did we trust your justice in the Can Atalay case? Which justice of yours should we trust? Can one trust a justice system in this country that arrests Ayşe Barım 13 years later? You even arrested a fortune teller in this country! They arrested an astrologer woman; she has been inside for more than a month!"

"MAY ANYONE WHO FEARS YOU BE A COWARD!"

Stating that the crowd gathered in Saraçhane is exercising their most democratic right, Enginyurt emphasized that he would not take a step back against the government's oppressive attitude and noted the following:

"Are we going to be afraid of you now just because the people in this square in Saraçhane are exercising their most natural, democratic rights? We say we will hold a justice rally with 1 million people, and they file a criminal complaint calling it an 'invitation to the streets'. They say 'you're next'. These people are schizophrenic, psychopaths! I will return any insult directed at me tenfold. Because when I take a step back; when my companions are silenced, they think we are afraid. I am openly challenging them: I am addressing the cowards who say 'you're next'; May anyone who fears you be a coward!"
