Comments on Mesut Özil from Fatih Altaylı: The embodiment of political Islam
Journalist Fatih Altaylı criticized former footballer Mesut Özil, who was elected to the AKP's Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK), stating, "He is the embodiment of political Islam."
Former German footballer of Turkish descent, Mesut Özil, has been included in the party's Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK) at the AKP's 8th Ordinary Grand Congress.
Journalist Fatih Altaylı made striking remarks about Mesut Özil, who in the past rejected the Turkish National Team by saying, "I feel German."
Reminding the public of both Özil's national team choice and his former lifestyle, Altaylı stated the following:
"He is the embodiment of political Islam. Mesut Özil gave up his Turkish passport for Germany. He said, 'I don't feel Turkish.' Because he had to do that for his career. Furthermore, he did not have an Islamist profile. Even the Real Madrid president warned him about a woman. While playing for Arsenal, he was caught at a drug party, and then suddenly, he remembered he was Turkish and Muslim."
