Diploma protest at Boğaziçi University graduation ceremony: Tore up diploma and shouted
A Boğaziçi University graduate expressed their reaction by tearing up their diploma, making a reference to the cancellation of the diploma of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently held at the Marmara Prison in Silivri.
The Boğaziçi University graduation ceremony was the scene of a notable protest.
During the graduation ceremony, where students celebrated by throwing their caps, Doruk Dörücü, a sociology graduate from Boğaziçi University, stood up the moment they received their diploma and carried out a protest.
"THE DIPLOMA IS VOID"
Dörücü stood up at that moment and stated the following:
"The diploma given to me by this despotic regime, which cancels the diploma of the future president, and opens, closes, or divides faculties as it pleases, is void."
Although there were some who reacted to the student after they finished their words, the vast majority of the hall supported them with applause.
