Night watchmen patrolling in Bartın wanted to stop a vehicle at the Orduyeri Bridge following a report that it was endangering traffic.

The vehicle, which did not comply with the 'stop' order, was then targeted by patrol teams in the Yalı district.

A short pursuit took place between the reported vehicle and the police. The suspect vehicle was stopped on Stadyum Street.

HE WAS DRUNK, SAID HE WOULD CALL THE MINISTER AND THE GOVERNOR

It was determined that the driver, who identified himself as former provincial council member Bahattin K., was driving under the influence above the legal limit.

Trying to avoid a fine, the driver told the police officers after they began writing the citation that he knew Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, CHP Bartın MP Aysu Bankoğlu, Bartın Governor Nurtaç Arslan, and Deputy Governor Uğur Karakaya.

Seeing the police writing the fine, Bahattin K. said, "I wasn't going to call our governor, Mr. Yılmaz, or Ms. Aysu, but because of this action, I will call for a minute."

REACTION TO POLICE PRESENCE

Reacting to the large number of police officers who stopped him, Bahattin K. said, "You don't need 2 men to hold this guy, you need 24 men. For a moment, I felt like I was at the Mardin border gate. What is this? I'm a heroin smuggler. If I tried to get out of here, they would shoot me with a gun. Like they're looking for terrorists in Mardin. What is this, man?" he said, expressing his reaction.

CALLED THE DEPUTY GOVERNOR

Having difficulty finding Deputy Governor Karakaya in his phone contacts, Bahattin K. asked for help from the police and journalists and made a call. Calling Governor Karakaya, Bahattin K. asked for help, saying, "Dear Governor Uğur, the officers stopped me 25 meters from my house. I wouldn't want to bother you with something like this, but they stopped me for being drunk. The officers will answer, I am 25 meters from my house. I had to bother you because of such an incident. I apologize. I apologize again and again. You know me, dear governor. You are a friend and companion whom I truly value and cherish. I called you so that I could ask for help from a friend in such an incident." Upon Deputy Governor Karakaya saying he would look into what the matter was, Bahattin K. wanted to hand the phone to the police. Failing to get the police to speak with Karakaya, Bahattin K. tried to explain his situation to the Deputy Governor for a while.

WENT HOME ON FOOT

Unable to avoid the fine, Bahattin K. tried to convince the police for a while longer by saying he would also call Governor Nurtaç Arslan. As his efforts were not enough, Bahattin K. was issued a heavy fine for violations such as failing to comply with a 'stop' order and driving under the influence, and his vehicle was towed to a parking lot.
