Everything is rosy for AKP figures... AKP's Yasin Kartoğlu pits TOGG against Ferrari

AKP-run Başakşehir Mayor Yasin Kartoğlu raced a TOGG against a Ferrari. 

The footage, which also included Kartoğlu's remarks that "It really gets you going, the sound it makes," drew backlash and sparked debate on social media. 

Kartoğlu, who got into the TOGG, raced against social media influencer Mustafa Bahçecioğlu, known as Mr. Fast. The AKP mayor shared the video of the race against the Ferrari, then deleted it.

In the footage, Kartoğlu points to the TOGG and tells Bahçecioğlu, "My car isn't bad either, you know; if you want, let's have a go." 

The two then raced in an area closed to traffic. Later, after switching to the Ferrari, Kartoğlu remarked, "It's really very good. It really gets you going, the sound it makes." 

CITIZENS REACTED

Following the sharing of the footage, many people criticized the move by pointing to the current issues on the country's agenda. One user said, "Mr. Mayor, the streetlights on Mimar Kemalettin Boulevard near the metro station haven't been working for months; the Ferrari's headlights are powerful, it would be appreciated if you could drive by there in the evenings once in a while." Following the backlash, Kartoğlu removed the posts from all his accounts.
