Fatih Altaylı's striking comment on the 'pork' scandal at a famous meatball chain: 'They are terrified that their name will be revealed'
A famous meatball chain, in which pork was detected in its products during inspections by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, has blocked the disclosure of its name through a court order. Evaluating the issue, journalist Fatih Altaylı stated, "This is a very famous meatball restaurant. We cannot give its name here. They are most likely 'terrified' that their name will be revealed."
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry published a list on October 2 of foods that have been subject to imitation or adulteration and could endanger health.
While the names of businesses where pork was detected in their food were shared with the public, there was an exception for one of them.
BLOCKED BY COURT ORDER
Sadettin İnan, Editor-in-Chief of Tarımdan Haber, stated that a meat company was on the list for pork, but that this company took the matter to court and obtained a stay of execution.
While businesses where pork was detected in their products remain on the agenda, the fact that a famous meatball chain obtained a court order to prevent its name from being disclosed has caused reactions.
A striking comment came from journalist Fatih Altaylı regarding the 'pork' scandal that Turkey is talking about.
"THEY HAVE NEARLY 200 BRANCHES"
Making evaluations on his own YouTube channel, Altaylı stated that the firm, which blocked the disclosure of its name with a court order, is Turkey's most famous meatball restaurant and has nearly 200 branches.
Pointing out that the business produces and sells nearly 100 tons of meatballs and doner kebab per day, Altaylı said, "It is a matter that could cause great damage to that firm. They have stopped this publication with a court order."
"THEY ARE TERRIFIED"
Altaylı continued his words as follows:
"What is strange here is, why can't so many other firms stop it, but they can? This is a very famous meatball restaurant. We cannot give its name here. No one can give it either, for fear that they might file a lawsuit for damages tomorrow. They are most likely 'terrified' that their name will be revealed.
I suspect that the name of that firm will never be revealed, at least until the court case is concluded."
IS THE BUSINESS IN QUESTION KÖFTECİ YUSUF?
While it is claimed on social media that the business in question is Köfteci Yusuf, Altaylı's use of the 'yusuf yusuf' pun (a Turkish idiom for being terrified) strengthened the allegations.
STATEMENT FROM KÖFTECİ YUSUF AFTER 'PORK' ALLEGATIONS
On the other hand, a statement came from Köfteci Yusuf yesterday (October 8) following the 'pork' allegations.
Speaking to Leyla Aydoğan from Gazete Pencere, Köfteci Yusuf's lawyer Ali Uslu stated that he had no information about the matter. When asked whether he would respond to the allegations, he brushed it off by saying, 'I will not respond.'
