First statement from CHP Group Deputy Chair Başarır regarding the tension at the Party Assembly

Başarır made a statement regarding the tense moments that occurred at the Party Assembly (PM) meeting where candidates to compete in the March 31 local elections were being determined within the CHP.

Ali Mahir Başarır said, "There was a discussion, yes, but I did not have a single word of dialogue with the deputy."

CHP Group Deputy Chair Ali Mahir Başarır, regarding the allegations that tense moments occurred at the Party Assembly (PM) meeting where candidates to compete in the local elections were being determined, said, "There was a discussion, yes, but I did not have a single word of dialogue with the deputy. We didn't even get within 20 meters of each other."

According to the allegation, CHP Mersin Deputy Ufuk Çakır wanted Neşet Tarhan to be nominated again in Mezitli, but no such decision was reached at the Party Assembly.

It was alleged that Ufuk Çakır, angered by this situation, shouted at CHP Group Deputy Chair Ali Mahir Başarır and left the hall.

CHP Group Deputy Chair Ali Mahir Başarır spoke at the candidate introduction of his party's Mayoral Candidate Melek Mızrak Subaşı in Bilecik.

Başarır said, "There was a discussion, yes, but I did not have a single word of dialogue with the deputy. We didn't even get within 20 meters of each other. I saw him from afar. Then there was shouting, I heard that. At that time, I was already at the back of the hall, then I came to the front. I am just saddened; a discussion could have happened, if it had, I would say so.
