The fact that the son of the Somali President caused the death of motorcycle courier Yunus Emre Göçer in Istanbul by hitting him with his vehicle caused public outrage in the country.

According to the report by Kübra Karasu from 12punto; although an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect, it was revealed that he had left the country days earlier.

According to the report by Timur Soykan from BirGün; yesterday around 12:40 PM, a car with license plate 34 DES 8… was driving up Ömer Hayyam Street. Former Yemeni Defense Minister Ahmed Musaeed Hussein was in the front passenger seat. His 27-year-old son, Musaeed Ahmed Musaeed Hussein, was driving the car.

At that moment, a man and 72-year-old Pakize Özer wanted to cross the narrow street. The son of the former Yemeni defense minister hit the elderly woman. The man who was with the woman also fell to the ground. Pakize Özer, who hit her head on the curb, was seriously injured and taken to the hospital by ambulance. It was learned that the elderly woman was taken to intensive care and is in life-threatening condition.

HE CLAIMS HE DID NOT HIT HER, BUT THAT SHE HIT THE CAR!

Musaeed Ahmed Musaeed Hussein, who was taken to the Kasımpaşa Police Station and gave his statement there, said that his father was receiving treatment in Istanbul and that he had come to Turkey from Oman on November 12, 2023, to accompany him. He explained that he was staying at a friend's house in Başakşehir, Istanbul. He continued his statement, given through an interpreter, as follows:

“On the day of the incident, we set out with my father in the vehicle we had rented to go for a drive. While I was moving at a speed of approximately 7 km/h on the slope where the incident occurred, the complainant suddenly appeared in front of me. Because the sun was coming from the opposite direction, I did not see exactly where she came from. According to the sound I heard first, the complainant's cane hit the vehicle. Then the complainant hit the vehicle. I definitely did not hit the complainant. There were no warning signs or pedestrian crossings at the scene. There were even chains on the side of the road to prevent pedestrians from jumping into the road. I wrapped the injured woman's head with her scarf to stop the bleeding. People around helped and we called an ambulance. According to the accident report, I have no fault. I do not accept the accusations against me.”

The accident report also stated that Pakize Özer was at fault for walking on the street rather than on a pedestrian path. It was noted that the man who was with Pakize Özer at the time of the accident and fell to the ground with her was not mentioned at all in the statements or the report.

THIS TIME A TRAVEL BAN WAS IMPOSED

Following his statement to the prosecutor, Musaeed Ahmed Musaeed Hussein was referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace at the Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse and was released with a travel ban imposed.

Lawyer Kerim Bahadır Şeker stated that they are monitoring the health condition of the injured Pakize Özer and said, “We hope her health will improve. We will also apply for the removal of the judicial control decision against our client. My client is very upset about this incident.”
