Footage of the knife attack at Fatih Mosque has emerged

In the incident that took place at Fatih Mosque yesterday (January 8) at around 19:15, an individual identified as Ö.S. allegedly entered the mosque and began shouting slogans. He then attacked and seriously injured Fatih Mosque Imam Galip Usta and Bilal Erdem, who had approached him to warn him, with a knife. Galip Usta and Bilal Erdem were taken to the hospital after receiving initial medical intervention, and the suspect was apprehended and taken into custody.

FOOTAGE OF THE ATTACK HAS EMERGED

The moment of the attack, in which the imam and a citizen were injured, was captured on security cameras. The footage shows a sudden commotion inside the mosque, during which a person is seen stabbing the imam and the citizen.

STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR GÜL REGARDING THE INJURED

The imam Galip Usta and Bilal Erdem, who were injured in the attack, were taken to Bezmialem Vakıf University Hospital. Istanbul Governor Davut Gül visited the hospital and received information from doctors about the condition of the injured.

In a post on his social media account, Gül stated, "We wish a speedy recovery to our teacher Galip Usta and his student Bilal Erdem, who were injured in the attack at Fatih Mosque. We visited them at the hospital and received information from our doctors. Their treatment is ongoing. The perpetrator has been caught, and our police department is investigating the incident from all angles. Get well soon."
