Former IYI Party district chair wounded in armed attack

The incident occurred on 1528 Street in the Side neighborhood. According to the information received, an unidentified individual approached the car of Hüseyin Ergen, who had arrived in front of his residence. The suspect pointed a gun at Ergen through the vehicle's right window, but fled the scene rapidly after the weapon jammed.

The suspect returned after walking about 50 meters, aimed the gun at Hüseyin Ergen again, and fired a hail of bullets at Ergen as he attempted to flee.

One of the 7 bullets fired from the handgun struck Ergen in his right leg, and another hit his left calf.

While the suspect fled the scene on foot, Hüseyin Ergen got into his vehicle and sought treatment at a private hospital he reached in Side. The moments of the incident were recorded second by second by security cameras.

Following the incident, the Manavgat District Gendarmerie Command, the Side Gendarmerie Station, the Gendarmerie Detectives (JASAT), and the Crime Scene Investigation team launched an operation to identify and apprehend the suspect.

Hüseyin Ergen, who gave a statement to the gendarmerie after his treatment at the hospital, said while leaving the hospital that he would make a statement regarding the matter shortly, that he had no problems with anyone in his private life, and that recent events in his political life were the cause of this unpleasant incident.
