Heartbreaking words from the father of a child critically injured in a dog attack: 'They didn't just bite my child, they literally mauled him'

Halil Yılmaz, the father of 4th-grade student Tunahan Yılmaz, who was attacked by dogs on a vacant lot in Ankara's Keçiören district, has called for a solution to the stray dog problem. The grieving father stated, "Doctors say his condition is critical. It would be a miracle of God for my child to survive. They didn't just bite my child, they literally mauled him."

The treatment of Tunahan Yılmaz, a student at Nurettin Demirer Primary School who was critically injured in an attack by stray dogs in the Kafkas neighborhood of Ankara's Keçiören district, continues in the pediatric intensive care unit at Hacettepe İhsan Doğramacı Children's Hospital.

Halil Yılmaz, who is waiting at the hospital for his child's treatment to conclude, explained that while he was on his way to work, the school principal called him to say his child had been injured in a dog attack and that he needed to come to the hospital immediately.

"MY CHILD HAS NO CHANCE OF SURVIVAL"

Stating that he saw his child's condition after arriving at Hacettepe Hospital, Yılmaz appealed to the authorities, saying, "A human life should not be this cheap. This is the pain of losing a child. My child is gone; my child has no chance of survival. I saw it with my own eyes. Is the life of an animal more important than a human life?"

"TODAY IT HAPPENED TO MY CHILD, TOMORROW IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOURS"

Demanding measures be taken regarding stray dogs, Yılmaz noted that his child is currently on life support and that these attacks could happen to anyone.

Calling on authorities to find a solution to the problem, Yılmaz continued:

"Today it happened to my child, tomorrow it could happen to your child. This will not stop. I was going to work the other morning. They attacked 3 children in the morning. Can children even go to school at that hour? They even attacked me. I was terrified. Doctors say his condition is critical. It would be a miracle of God for my child to survive. They didn't just bite my child, they literally mauled him."

FATHER YILMAZ'S FRIEND WAS ALSO ATTACKED

Halil Yılmaz's friend, Fatih Altun, also said that he had previously been attacked by dogs.

Stating that a solution must be found for this situation, Altun said, "There is a constant problem with these dogs. They even attacked me while I was going to work. Because I am an adult, I was able to protect myself. How much can a child protect themselves? We are calling on the authorities. A solution needs to be found for these dogs."
