How things have changed... Bahçeli's 2022 speech resurfaces: Look at what he said to Kılıçdaroğlu about Öcalan

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's call led to a DEM Party delegation visiting İmralı. DEM Party deputies Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Pervin Buldan, who met with PKK leader Öcalan in İmralı, had not disclosed the details of the meeting.

The statement made by DEM is as follows:

"To the press and the public;

We held a comprehensive meeting with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı on December 28, 2024. His health was good, and his morale was quite high. His assessments regarding finding a permanent solution to the Kurdish Question were of vital importance.

In the meeting, where recent developments in the Middle East and Turkey were evaluated, Mr. Öcalan presented positive solution proposals against the dark future scenarios being imposed.

The general framework of his thoughts and approach is as follows:

- Strengthening Turkish-Kurdish brotherhood again is not only a historical responsibility but has also gained a decisive importance and urgency for all peoples.

- For the success of the process, it is essential that all political circles in Turkey take initiative, act constructively, and provide positive contributions without getting caught up in narrow and periodic calculations. Undoubtedly, one of the most important grounds for these contributions will be the TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Turkey).

- Events in Gaza and Syria have shown that the solution to this problem, which is being attempted to be turned into gangrene through external interventions, has become an issue that can no longer be postponed. The contributions and suggestions of the opposition are also valuable to bring a study commensurate with the seriousness of this to success.

- I also possess the competence and determination to provide the necessary contributions in a positive sense to the new paradigm supported by Mr. Bahçeli and Mr. Erdoğan.

- The delegation will share this approach of mine with both the state and political circles. In light of these, I am ready to take the necessary positive step and make the call.

- All these efforts of ours will be a very valuable guide for both carrying the country to the level it deserves and for a democratic transformation.

- The era is an era of peace, democracy, and brotherhood for Turkey and the region.
