Illegal nightclub scandal: Threats against Ramazan Gülten for demolishing venue owned by presidential advisor's nephew

An illegal nightclub belonging to the nephew of Presidential Advisor Oktay Saral was demolished by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Zoning Director Ramazan Gülten. The demolition, carried out on the grounds that it was an illegal structure, brought the Saral family's zoning privileges to the agenda.

Following inspections conducted as part of the fight against corruption, it was determined that the business named "Mios Nightclub" was in violation of zoning regulations. Despite the pressure he faced, IMM Zoning Director Gülten performed his duty and carried out the demolition of the illegal structure.

Records that emerged after the demolition confirmed that the club was operated by Oktay Saral's nephew. Criticisms regarding the redirection of public resources and zoning privileges for individual gain have come to the fore once again.

IMM Head of Zoning and Urbanization Department Ramazan Gülten, who was detained on April 26 during the second wave of operations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), was arrested on April 30 on charges of bribery.

IT EMERGED THAT HE WAS THREATENED

It has emerged that Gülten, who was threatened for doing his job and demolishing the illegal structure, was targeted.

Journalist Barış Pehlivan, in his speech on the YouTube channel Onlar TV, stated that after the illegal structure belonging to Oktay Saral's nephew was demolished, the nephew said, "You will pay for this," and made a reference to his uncle (Oktay Saral).
