In Gayrettepe, an individual named Ahmet Bostancı had been arrested after insulting Atatürk and the imam following a prayer for Atatürk during the Friday sermon on November 10.

In his defense during the hearing, Ahmet Bostancı stated, "I made all the posts from my own social media (X) account. I got angry and made the post because a person who presents themselves as a Kemalist insulted God and the Prophet. I wrote this insult with an anonymous account in mind that had insulted my religious values. Because my religious values had been insulted. I also wrote the comments like 'Let the Jew die.' I later regretted it and deleted them. I wrote such a text in a moment of anger. The whole incident happened after I shared the video. I had 300 followers. After the video, I had 4,500 followers," he said.

THEY CONTINUED TO INSULT IN FRONT OF THE COURTHOUSE

At the new session of the trial where Bostancı was being tried, a group called Özgür-Der came to the Anatolian Courthouse and opposed Law No. 5816, the "Law Concerning Crimes Committed Against Atatürk," carrying signs that read "End the 5816 persecution."

The group also chanted slogans in front of the courthouse, saying, "We are not servants of Kemalism, but of our Lord."

While the moments of the group chanting takbirs and demanding Sharia in the courthouse corridors were recorded second by second, there was no police intervention against the group.

ACQUITTAL DECISION

While a release decision was made for Bostancı, who was defended by 15 different lawyers, his trial will continue without detention.
