The incident took place at the Adana Metropolitan Municipality building in the Reşatbey neighborhood of the Seyhan district.

According to allegations, Mikail G., who works at the municipal public bread bakery, went to the office of acting Chief of Staff Samet Güdük to speak with him.

After an argument broke out between them a short while later, Mikail G. wounded Samet Güdük with a handgun he was carrying. It was learned that Güdük is in critical condition while his surgery is ongoing.

It was learned that the suspect, Mikail G., who later surrendered to the police with the weapon used in the crime, said in his initial statement, "He defrauded me, that is why I shot him."

STATEMENT FROM ZEYDAN KARALAR

Adana Metropolitan Mayor Zeydan Karalar, who arrived at the hospital where Samet Güdük was taken, said in a statement upon leaving the hospital, "He is someone we hired; his wife had kicked him out of the house. He came and begged me, saying 'talk to my wife,' and I talked to his wife. I told her, 'We will hire your husband, don't kick the man out,' and I hired him. Such a thing would never cross our minds; he came and talked there. As he was leaving, he said 'Sorry' and fired. Since he is a staff member, there was no need to search him. If he weren't staff, there are security measures there anyway, but they are our own employees, so I can't say anything."

Providing information on Güdük's condition, Karalar added, "His condition is a bit critical. The doctors are performing interventions. Doctors from an outside hospital have also arrived. We will not spare our prayers; I trust in his youth and resilience."
