Prof. Dr. Bekir Zakir Çoban, a faculty member at Ege University's Faculty of Theology, has claimed that the Garden of Eden mentioned in the Torah points to Adana both etymologically and geographically. Arguing that the two other sacred rivers besides the Euphrates and the Tigris are the Seyhan and Ceyhan, Çoban stated, "The Garden of Eden could be Adana and its surroundings."

Prof. Dr. Bekir Zakir Çoban made interesting claims on the program "Pelin Çift İle Gündem Ötesi" broadcast on TRT 1. Çoban's statements, in which he suggested that the concept of the Garden of Eden points to the Adana region based on Torah texts, have created a stir.

Çoban said the following:

-These are the expressions directly from the Torah. Not all people from Adana may know this. The Garden of Eden mentioned in the Torah is etymologically similar to the name Adana. It most likely comes from there.

-It mentions a garden in the east, and there are four rivers in this garden: the Euphrates, the Tigris, the Pishon, and the Gihon. We know the Euphrates and the Tigris.

-The Pishon and the Gihon are actually the Seyhan and Ceyhan rivers. Therefore, we can say that the Garden of Eden is Adana and its surroundings.
