Is the alliance in trouble? YRP members boo AKP Bahçelievler Mayor Bahadır
An interesting incident occurred at the Yeniden Refah Party's Istanbul provincial council meeting. AKP Bahçelievler Mayor Hakan Bahadır was booed by YRP members. Bahadır reacted by saying, "Don't just shout aimlessly."
Tensions flared between AKP Bahçelievler Mayor Hakan Bahadır and YRP members at the Yeniden Refah Party provincial council meeting held in Istanbul.
Attempting to finish his speech amidst whistling and booing from the Yeniden Refah Party organization, Hakan Bahadır told the hall, "You will listen," and "You will learn to be respectful."
Reacting to the Yeniden Refah Party members, Bahadır said the following, according to information from the local news site On2 ay Bahçelievler:
"DON'T JUST SHOUT AIMLESSLY, I AM NOT LEAVING HERE"
"Don't just shout aimlessly. You will listen, you will learn to be respectful. I am not going anywhere. This is the venue of the Bahçelievler Municipality. I am not leaving here; if you are going to leave, you leave," he said.
Yeniden Refah Party Istanbul Provincial Chair Mustafa Doğan intervened in the incident and calmed the hall.
Hakan Bahadır took the microphone again and recited a poem. Hakan Bahadır left the hall accompanied by chants of "Prosperity will come, faces will smile" from the party members in the hall.
WILL THE AKP AND YRP FORM AN ALLIANCE?
Alliance negotiations between the Yeniden Refah Party (YRP) and the AK Party regarding the March 31 elections have stalled. While the YRP has not yet given the green light to an alliance, Yeniden Refah Party Deputy Chairman Prof. Dr. Doğan Aydal recently stated, "We realized that the meetings they held with us were just beating the air. Neither the base nor I want cooperation with the AK Party. The AK Party lied to us."
