Jewelry store robbery in Grand Bazaar: They escaped with 15 million TL

Oğuz Ç., a jeweler in the Grand Bazaar, was robbed by armed assailants.

ASSAILANTS ROBBED THE JEWELER

In the incident that took place at the Ataköy 5th Section Bazaar around noon today, Oğuz Ç., a jeweler in the Grand Bazaar, arrived in Ataköy with 3 of his employees to deposit 360 thousand dollars and 170 thousand euros, worth 15 million TL, into the bank. As they got out of their vehicle and walked toward the bank, 2 armed assailants attempted to rob Oğuz Ç. of the bag he was carrying.

When the jeweler resisted, the robbers opened fire and wounded Oğuz Ç. The robbers took the 15 million TL in foreign currency and fled the scene. Upon notification, numerous police teams were dispatched to the area. The police, who launched an operation to capture the fleeing robbers, also took the statements of the workers who were with Oğuz Ç. It was learned that the police are investigating those who knew that Oğuz Ç. was coming with the money, based on the possibility that there may be a connection between the robbers and the people who knew about the deposit.
