Journalist Deniz Zeyrek recounts his experience at a notary: 'They charged 500 liras for an A4 sheet'
Journalist Deniz Zeyrek criticized the high fees he encountered at a notary, stating that he paid 1,299 liras for a single-page power of attorney and that 500 liras were charged for an A4 document under the name of "valuable paper." Dr. Şeref Oğuz stated that notaries are unnecessary.
Journalist Deniz Zeyrek shared his experience at a notary on his YouTube program, protesting the high prices. Zeyrek stated, "I paid 1,299 liras for a single-page power of attorney at the notary. They charged 500 liras for an A4 sheet as 'valuable paper'," expressing that the fees applied to notary transactions are excessive.
'TAX ON TAX ON TAX ON TAX'
Dr. Şeref Oğuz, who agreed with Zeyrek's remarks, drew attention to the high number of notaries in Turkey, saying, "There are 1,600 notaries in Turkey; we no longer need their services. Neither for their stamps nor their taxes. Because we do not need them due to the digital tax office and security systems. But the state needs tax. The structure we call tax on tax on tax on tax is what happened to you," he said.
