Journalist Seda Akgül's confession about Erdoğan years later: 'Ferit Şahenk asked me to, so I stayed silent...'
In a broadcast on her YouTube channel, journalist Seda Akgül claimed that in 2014, then-Prime Minister Erdoğan intervened directly to have her fired from Star TV. Stating that she did not bring this issue to the agenda for a long time at the request of Ferit Şahenk, Akgül drew attention with her words, 'I had debts, that's why I accepted Kısmetse Olur.'
Journalist and television personality Seda Akgül had hosted the marriage program titled “Kısmetse Olur,” which was broadcast on Kanal D for a period, and became a name recognized by large audiences through this project.
After the program concluded, Akgül took a break from the screen for a while and is currently meeting with viewers through broadcasts on YouTube where she discusses current affairs.
In her latest program, Akgül made striking statements regarding the period she worked at Star TV in 2014.
Journalist Akgül claimed that her employment was terminated due to the direct intervention of the then-Prime Minister and current President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. With this statement, she has once again become a topic of public discussion.
"HE HAD ME FIRED FROM STAR"
Akgül described the process she experienced with the following words:
“Our President had me fired from Star in August 2014, saying, 'You shouldn't read the news, you are doing commentary-based news.' Ferit Şahenk gave me my 3-month salary and said, 'They will be with us for another 13 years.' Şahenk told me, 'They will be with us until 2027; we have many employees and holdings. Please do not refuse this request of ours. May you forgive your rights.' I was fired from Star News and the Kanal D morning slot like that. Fatih Portakal was not fired because Fox was powerful. I accepted Kısmetse Olur because I had a lot of debt.”
