'Looking the wrong way' argument turns into a knife attack

An argument that broke out between young people on June 5, 2025, at the Arasta Park Shopping Mall located in the Yahya Kaptan neighborhood of İzmit, Kocaeli, resulted in a knife attack.

According to allegations, Şahin C. and his friend got into an argument with another group of young people over "looking the wrong way." As the argument escalated, Şahin C. pulled a knife from his waistband and injured one of the young men in the hand. The injured youth was taken to the hospital, where he received 8 stitches in his hand.

The moment of the attack was captured by a citizen's amateur camera. In the footage, Şahin C. is seen making threats, saying, "If I pull it out, I'll slash your throat immediately," and drawing the knife from his waistband.

SENT TO PRISON

Police teams, who arrived at the scene upon notification, took the attacker into custody. Following his procedures at the police station, Şahin C. was brought before a court, where he was arrested and sent to prison.
