Following the call by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, hundreds of thousands of citizens continue to gather in Saraçhane to protest the detention of İmamoğlu. Despite the government declaring the protests unauthorized and illegal, hundreds of thousands of people are gathering in Saraçhane, and familiar faces are also appearing among the crowd.
Artist Melike Demirağ and journalist Nasuh Bektaş also appeared in Saraçhane on the 3rd day of the protests. Speaking to 12punto's Hazal Güven, the two made the following assessments:
MELİKE DEMİRAĞ: FOR A MORE BEAUTIFUL AND BRIGHTER TURKEY
Being here today is very important; it is an area dominated by young people, all the university youth are here, and people of our age are here too. Of course, I am going back to the old days, remembering our youth, our rallies, our meetings, our resistance...
We are here in Saraçhane today to protest the disregard for Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma and his detention. For a more beautiful and brighter Turkey... We are here so that the young people here can live in a freer and more secular Turkey; we are hopeful and we will not lose our hope.
NASUH BEKTAŞ: THE YOUTH KNOW WHAT THEY WANT
Today is our 3rd day in Saraçhane; today there is an even larger crowd and the profile is incredible...
There is a large young population and university students here, and they know what they want.
They are demanding rights, law, justice, and a parliamentary system!
They are against the restriction of their freedoms; young people raised with reason naturally want a modern style of governance, they are uncomfortable with oppressive governance, and we are all seeing this here together.
