Miners' protest against privatization continues

The protest launched by mine workers in the Nallıhan district of Ankara continues into its third day. While the miners state they will continue their action until the sale decision is halted, earthquake survivors who were rescued by miners during the Adıyaman earthquake have also declared their support.

While the protest started by 500 miners on Wednesday morning continues underground, the miners' families and about 300 citizens supporting them are continuing their own protest outside.

The miners, who locked themselves in the mine 350 meters underground in opposition to the asset sale of the Çayırhan Thermal Power Plant, announced in a new video that they are in good health and intend to continue their protest until the sale is abandoned.

SUPPORT FOR MINERS FROM EARTHQUAKE SURVIVORS

Citizens who experienced the disaster in Adıyaman during the February 6 earthquakes and were pulled from the rubble thanks to the miners expressed their support for the miners' protest with the following words.

"THEY WERE THERE WHEN NO ONE ELSE WAS"

The earthquake survivors who support the miners' underground protest explained that they stand with the miners who rescued them from the rubble with these words:

"We rescued my nephew on the 8th day thanks to the miners. I am sure that they stood behind citizens like me during and after the earthquake. We were always satisfied with them; we cannot turn a blind eye to their rights being violated. We want the people who did not withhold their support from us to receive their due. Do not break our arms and wings either. They were there when no one else was."
