Ministers issue consecutive statements! Explosion at a factory in Balıkesir: 12 people lost their lives

Balıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu reported that there were deaths and injuries in an explosion at a factory producing explosives in the Karesi district. According to the latest information, it was reported that 12 lives were lost in the explosion.

An explosion occurred for an unknown reason in the capsule production section of a factory operating in the rural Kavaklı neighborhood of Balıkesir's Karesi district. Following the incident, numerous 112 Emergency Health and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the region.

Balıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu stated that teams were immediately directed to the region following the incident.

Stating that there were deaths and injuries, Governor Ustaoğlu said, "An explosion occurred at the ZSR explosives production facility. After the explosion in the capsule production section of the factory, a collapse occurred in the building. All our teams are here right now."

CALL FROM SES: ALL MEMBERS MUST GO TO THEIR WORKPLACES

The Health and Social Service Workers Union (SES) Balıkesir Branch made the following statement after the explosion:

"Information has reached us that an explosion occurred at a factory located in our province's Kavaklı Village and that there are many dead and injured workers.

We call on our members, especially those working at the Atatürk City Hospital, to go to their workplaces even if they are on leave or just finishing their shift.

While we convey our wishes for a speedy recovery to our injured workers, we extend our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives."

12 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, who was a guest at the AA Editor's Desk, initially reported that the death toll from the explosion had risen to 13.

Minister Yerlikaya made the following statements:

"13 of our citizens lost their lives. We have 3 injured, the condition of the injured is good."

Later making another statement, Minister Yerlikaya issued a correction, reporting that 12 people lost their lives and 4 people were injured in the explosion.

BALIKESİR GOVERNOR: EXPLOSION OCCURRED IN THE CAPSULE PRODUCTION SECTION

Balıkesir Governor Ustaoğlu made the following statements during a live broadcast:

"An explosion occurred at 08.25 in the capsule production section of the ammunition factory. 12 of our citizens lost their lives. 3 of our citizens were injured."

MINISTER TUNÇ: INVESTIGATION INITIATED

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, who made a statement on his X account after the explosion, used the following expressions:

"An investigation has been initiated by the Balıkesir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the explosion that occurred in the capsule production section of the factory producing explosives in the Karesi district of our Balıkesir province, and 4 public prosecutors have been assigned under the coordination of 1 deputy chief public prosecutor. The investigation is being carried out in a multi-faceted and meticulous manner. I wish God's mercy upon our citizens who lost their lives in the explosion and a speedy recovery to our injured citizens."

MINISTER IŞIKHAN: 2 CHIEF INSPECTORS AND 1 INSPECTOR ASSIGNED

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, who made a statement on his social media account after the explosion, used the following expressions:

"I wish God's mercy upon our citizens who lost their lives in the explosion at an ammunition factory in the Karesi district of Balıkesir, condolences to their families, and a speedy recovery to the injured.

2 chief inspectors and 1 inspector have been assigned to investigate the explosion.

As the Ministry, we are closely following the process."

STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH

Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu said regarding the explosion, "We learned with sadness that an explosion occurred at a factory in the Karesi district of Balıkesir.

12 of our citizens lost their lives. 5 of our injured citizens have been taken under treatment in our hospitals.

I wish God's mercy upon our citizens who lost their lives, and condolences to their relatives and loved ones.

We are closely following the treatments of our injured so that they may regain their health as soon as possible.

May the Almighty protect our country and our people from all kinds of accidents, troubles, and disasters."

ERDOĞAN: WE HAVE GIVEN THE INSTRUCTION FOR AN IMMEDIATE INVESTIGATION

After the explosion, AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also made a statement via his social media account.

In his statement, the President, who said "I am deeply saddened by the loss of 12 of our brothers and sisters as a result of the explosion at an ammunition factory in the Karesi district of our Balıkesir", continued as follows:

"By receiving information from all relevant institutions, especially our Balıkesir Governor, regarding the explosion, we have given the instruction for the necessary investigation to be initiated immediately in all its aspects.

I pray for God's mercy upon my brothers and sisters who passed away, offer my condolences to their families, and wish our injured a speedy recovery.

My condolences to our Balıkesir and our nation."
