Social media influencer Banu Parlak shared a video on her social media account featuring a handgun she claimed was licensed. Following this post, Parlak was referred to the courthouse. It was noted that the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into Banu Parlak.
Parlak had been taken into custody at her residence in Beylikdüzü by teams from the Beylikdüzü District Police Department as part of the investigation. During the search conducted at the home, one unlicensed handgun and 9 cartridges were found.
In the video she recorded, Parlak said the following, stating that she was not encouraging the use of weapons:
"I also have different interests, like cars and houses. What can we do, everyone has a hobby. I waited a long time for this day, too. I must just state that my weapon is licensed, but I am not encouraging anyone to use weapons. Everyone has different curiosities; some watch movies like crazy, others are interested in different hobbies. Mine is a hobby like this, too. It is even empty inside right now, we just like it"
